I was going to comment on this thread but it looks like this is where the "I hate Halo" group hang out.

I must admit though, i agree.

The series has been going on too long.

By why shouldnt it. its a pretty original story that most people enjoy and when the good campaigns over you can have the even better multiplayer.

I find that when i get bored or depressed, a good session riding around on the back of a warthog gunning down random people i have never met and probally will never meet again really cheers me up.

Why give it such a hard time. Its not complicated, It hasnt got bad graphics, and the story is amazing as it can play through a hole episode of human history with the ammount of games that have come out from it.

People enjoy it. whats wrong with that.

Back too the actual topic though, i hear PJ actually said at the time he said the movie was dead that they were going to come back to it at a later date. They were just having a few problems with the script and acting. He said a halo movie would eventually get done.

And dont get your hopes up that there isnt going to be more Halo Games. Oh No.
Just like ODST i predict that theres a few more prequels to come yet.

I'm glad it's dead, I like the Halo games and I've read the books because I like back story and stuff like that, but they would've screwed up the movie royally.

I want it to die, not because I don't like Halo but because I am fed up of the idea being bounced around and I don't want it to turn into a film that has loads spent on it and will be crap because there hasn't been one director concentrating on it. Instead there have been I don't know 5 directors just adding in their own ideas
This will just add up the crapness making one monstrosity of a film
Plus let?s be honest Master Chief is like the easiest character to act as and I bet the actor will screw it up

Of all people, I think it's Microsoft who is changing sides. I think Peter Jackson was right about how the movie and chronicles isn't happening, but to make it look like the Halo franchise is never weak (as a canceled game could show a sign of weakness), Microsoft stated that everything is going just fine.

I think Jackson, at the very least, is done with Halo. MS obviously isn't though and is going to push for more, since so many people eat it up as if it was just released and hadn't had the crap milked out of it.
Does anyone remember Bungie "officially" and publicly stating that there would be no more Halo after Halo 3? Then they announced ODST and again, publicly said there would be no more Halo after ODST. Then they announced Reach and, once again, said it's the end of Halo for them.
I, for one, don't believe a word Bungie utters anymore about Halo. Until MS decides they're done with it, it will continue to be milked to death and utterly ruined like so many before it... Mario, Zelda, Sonic, Mortal Kombat, etc...

Halo (the games, at least) will only be ruined when Bungie lets go of it.

Halo 3 has already been ruined due to Bungie not supporting it because they're too buys making more Halo games and content.
There's a slew of problems that were introduced with the last TU. Some achievements are glitched now like "Headshot Honcho" and several of the skull achievements. Spawn calculation is totally broken (spawning on top, literally, of 3 enemies very often). Ranked games are ruined due to all of the secondary tags boosting to sell them.
All of these problems have been totally ignored by Bungie, they're just too busy making more Halo to care about the Halo that's out now. It's a classic EA, Activision, Ubisoft move that I never expected from Bungie. I have lost all respect for them and will not buy anymore games from them after they way I've seen them become.
They are no longer gamers, they have graduated with their Masters Degree in Accounting and have embraced their new title of "Accountant" with open arms while forgetting they were ever gamers.

I've honestly never had ANY of these problems, except for boosting. Boosting is in every game, you will never be able to be rid of it.

Myself and 4 of my friends have stopped playing Halo because we've all noticed all the things I mentioned.

Yes, you can get rid of boosting. Use methods to deter it and put some server-side measures in place that work, unlike the crappy "banhammer" that catches maybe 1% of the people it should be.
Here's a deterrent example: The first time you log onto Halo multiplayer you can not access any playlist but one. This one playlist will require that you COMPLETE 100 games in it before you will be able to access other playlist.
Boosters will not want to go through a complete 100 games before they can even start boosting. No exp or rank will be awarded by this "Rookie" playlist.
They could also detect how many unique accounts come from one single 360 MAC address and limit the amount of accounts from a single 360 or flag the accounts when they get to a certain number and begin watching them.

These are just a few ideas, I'm sure there's many more things they could do that would be more effective. Bungie, just like DICE, Epic, IW, and Treyarch, doesn't care though.

Who's doing MAG? The article I read seems like they do care, they may be the only devs left that do.

Bungie will end their involvement with the Halo franchise after Halo: Reach. Another developer will takeover and continuing milking it once the transition is done though...

Are you kidding, the part where that girl in the wheelchair rips open that teddy bear charm thing to reveal a plasma grenade and uses it to kill that pair of Elites, then melees that Jackal to death! Awesome!

What's with all the people denouncing the Halo anime? It was only just announced alongside a trailer. It's not set for release until next year either.

Christ guys, try not to jump the gun too quickly. One of the 7 short stories isn't 'canon' anyway, but a spoof look at the universe.

Watch it, then judge.

I hold no enthusiasm for any Halo product until they confirm it will be available on PC, and XP compatible.

This on the other hand, I entirely agree with. Was a dick move by microsoft if there ever was one.

Yeah, I just don't see how you can go from making Ghost in the Shell to making a Halo anime. I'm disappointed in Production IG to say the least. From what I've seen of the anime, from pictures and a trailer, it's horrendous, or as you said, a train wreck.
Honestly, I'm going to have to watch an episode, or at least part of one, just to see how horrible it is.

It seems from new information I have gathered its going to be a bunch of side story's with new characters/plots set around the halo games/franchise. Its a huge cash in if it was a normal show it could be good then again if it was a cash in show it would suck even if it was a whole single story setup. 0-o

I am not alone for once, I liked Halo 1 it was meant to be a series starter so I don;t mind the story issues, frankly I like Darkwatch and love Dark Messiah it plays well but has a sucky story. I can handle crap story but fck around with gameplay to much and I am like...lul wut?!?!
