Microsoft Unveils Forza 5 For Xbox One - UPDATED

The first look at the super-hot Forza 5 on the Xbox One is finally here.

Confirming what was widely expected, Microsoft revealed the much-anticipated Forza 5 at the Xbox One reveal event today. The game is being developed by Turn 10 Studios, and will be released alongside Microsoft's new console.

UPDATE: As expected, the trailer is now making the rounds, and as promised, it looks great. It's not exactly a revolutionary Forza concept - two supercars going head-to-head in a white-knuckle blast through tight European streets - but it sure is sexy, eh? I expect that Forza fans will be pleased.

For the sake of completion and memories of good times gone by, I've left our original crappy screens below. Proper hi-res screens will likely be forthcoming soon.

I'm sure car enthusiasts and shiny plastic-ware, technophiles are rubbing themselves raw but my viewing of the unveiling so far has been:

GAMES. Where are the games, where is some quirky, glitter covered fun stuff?

Wait, so the new Xbox is going to be called "Xbox One?" Ummm that is kinda stupid, I mean we have the original Xbox and we have the Xbox 360... This is just as bad as Ipad 3 being called "The new Ipad"

They said today's press conference was about the machine, the games/gaming portion are going to be unveiled at E3.

And I remain, to this day, bewildered at why separating those things into two things is helping SELL this stupid thing. Because I and everyone around me were entirely baffled about how in today's modern PC world, this could be anything worth investing in.

Exclusive games are going to sell it. End of. You can tie every bell, whistle and gadgety gadget to it, but if a consumer can rationalize to themselves 'well I already have X that does X...' Then it doesn't mean shit. They showed off cutscenes, they blew statistics out their ass, but... to sell it to consumers, show us the game play. Reveal to us the hyped up titles coming our way and why we should be excited about them BEING on this console. Now everyone's heard the name the audience dwindles and people slowly shut off.

Forza 5 is basic at best. The Driving game you pitch to your dad to get him to agree to the damn thing. (Assuming I am channeling the younger audience here)

You need a hook. And so far, I've spent a while rationalizing in my head why I would want this thing when so many electronic devices we as a society own nowadays have us covered. It seems like wasted resources and the wrong foot forward to the wrong crowd of people. Games and Console have to sell together. Reveal them together.

This console is selling to no one (except utterly die hard Xbox fans) so far, and E3 will now be it's only shot to rocket my foot into my mouth.

I remain, utterly, as I was in my earlier post. Bored, boredy bored bored bored ness.

As with the PS4, this reveal has done nothing to make me want the thing. I'm a car enthusiast, and I love Forza 4, and Horizon is also good. This game is the exact same as 4, it seems to do nothing new, except a tiny bit shinier graphics (assuming this pre-rendered trailer does it any kind of justice). Color me not-very-impressed. Had they gone back to the previous (PS2, Gamecube) generation route, and said "Hey guys, this console will play games! It will ONLY play games, and do it well!" Then sure, I might be interested. I have a desktop, a laptop and a tablet for Skype, a TV for TV shows, and a PC for online gaming that doesn't vacuum my wallet. Give me a console that only plays games, and does so in a convenient, easy-to-use way.

I think Sony made a big mistake not having GT6 as a launch game on the PS4.....that game would sell a few PS4s. I do enjoy my Forza, and this looks nice. But, as usual, it will come down to the tracks. They never have enough new tracks on Forza games....hopefully this will change with this release. I dont want to play just prettier versions of all the old tracks. Also i want night racing and weather, nothing to drastic.

Exactly, they're basically demo'ing a multimedia box (which likely sits everything behind a pay-wall, if the current model holds true). In any case, Sony's stock is currently sitting at +9.25% since a steep climb that mysteriously began at 1PM EST, so I think the market would tend to agree with your sentiment.

The fact that the announcement of a new GAMES console featured little mention of any GAMES throws up a red flag for me as something that should be designed to make money from GAMERS especially from a company where 13% of their total profits come from GAMES.

wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft stocks dip before E3 as people wise up to this...

About the hardware and software, yes its all well and good but the one thing that caught my attention, someone PLEASE tell me if i misheard: I swear he said the controllers triggers could provide feedback, that's a gameplay feature, please say more about i- oh, onto football again... i'm in the UK and don't even like sports! come on guys!

E3 had better deliver but i hope Microsoft gets bitten over how their new games console doesn't seem to have gaming at the focus of its design. Again, at least that's the impression i have come away with...

OT: liked the old Forza, good racing game and a time filler but better racing games exist and older ones still hold my attention!

Maybe the footage of games at E3 won't be entirely pre rendered, i struggle to understand why they revealed this today and not 20 odd days time where they could line up something abit more real, instead of attacking me with American television channels and sports.
