Wow, and console gamers have the brass ones to say that the sense of entitlement that PC gamers have is bullshit.
I think it's more that certain gamers have entitlement issues, regardless of their chosen platform. I mean, look at the faeces-flinging chimps on this thread shouting about how xbox has always been shit, how consoles have always been shit, how the PC/PS3 is superior...
Fanboys, man. Sometimes you just want to rip their arms off and whap them around the face with their own hand.

I've noticed this in previous news posts before, when ever Microsoft decide to try and market the 360 in a different way that isn't to the precious 'core' gamers, said core gamers go spare and start crying like a kid who's been told that they can't have any sweeties before dinner.
I think it has more to do with;
A) the fear that developers will start pumping out Wii-style "family" gaming (which is generally basic and rather boring) for the Xbox rather than concentrating on more "hardcore" releases (because I can totally see, for example, BioWare scrapping Mass Effect 3 to make Ultimate Bubble Bobble), which is probably an unfounded fear.
B) annoyance at the further trivilisation of a beloved hobby, this perceived idea that people will stop seeing the Xbox as a serious gaming machine and think of it as a kid's toy (which again is pretty ridiculous) which will make said gamers feel more insecure about playing games because they can't talk about how "hardcore" the Xbox's titles are
C) knee-jerk muppetry. We've seen it from all sides in this thread - Xbox gamers yelling "My console is hardcore!", PC gamers yelling "Fools, PC was always superior!" and PS3 players claiming that their system already functioned as a family entertainment centre with iPlayer, blu-ray etc but retains the awesome edginess of shooting lots of dudes in the face every night

So here's a challenge to the people who seem to think they've been given the shitty end of the stick: Prove to me that a minor change in the way a console is going to be marketed is going to screw you over. I'm genuinely interested to know.
It won't. That isn't going to stop people from complaining, though. The argument is that shovelware and "family games" make developers lazy and more likely to churn out crap that sells well to the family demographic, but that argument holds about as much water as a seive. Everyone seems to forget that developers are usually gamers, and I doubt they want to see the medium descend into mediocrity any more than we do.
