Mighty No. 9 is Getting an Animated Spin-Off

An animated spin-off series for Keiji Inafune's Mega Man spiritual successor has already been announced.

Mighty No. 9 [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/escapist-news-now/8770-Mighty-No-9-Mega-Man-Creator-Keiji-Inafune], Keiji Inafune's Mega Man spiritual successor, may not even be finished yet, but its already got a spin-off anime series in the works. Inafune announced at Anime Expo 2014 that the series is scheduled to debut in Q1 2016, and will be produced by Digital Frontier.

We don't really know anything about the series, except for a handful of leaked screenshots from the trailer which debuted at the show. I'm sure we'll hear some more information about it in near future.

Digital Frontier has previously been involved with the Yakuza and Tekken series, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, Vanquish, and has even worked on films such as Resident Evil: Damnation. It looks like the Mighty No. 9 series will be CGI, rather than in a traditional Japanese anime style.

For Kickstarter backers worried that their contributions will be diverted away from the game and towards this animated series, Inafune stressed that Kickstarter funds would be used exclusively to develop the Mighty No. 9 video games.

Mighty No. 9 is already generating a truckload of hype before anyone has even had a chance to play it, which is a very dangerous thing for a video game to do. I've no doubt Inafune will pull off an outstanding game, but it certainly will have a lot to live up to.

Hopefully the anime will be mighty cool and not feature an annoying little version of the protagonist that can't stop saying "mighty" after every other word.

Well I don't mind the idea of a supporting cartoon that can deliver a story the game probably won't. But at the same time this could very well be another game to shit movie adoption, printing out brand products while the name is hot and selling whatever they can.

We will see what comes of it, but I would really rather have one decent game before some marketing ass hat chops up the IP for easy money.

Yeah... this is probably gonna be bad.

I mean from what I've seen on No. 9. it's basically a MEgaman X reskin.
If it's an X Reskin that would still put it ahead of the Rockman ZX series. I liked ZX and Advent, but the story was starting to get out there, especially since it looked like they were trying really hard to tie the X series to the Legends series.

Here is the announcement trailer you can show instead of screenshots. Its already on youtube. Hope this helps. I was at the pannel where this was shown. Was with a group of other megaman cosplayers and for a while we thought this was just an awesome ad for the game. Then it slapped on "The Animated Series" and everyone flipped out. Our group had so many jaw drops it was amazing.

Yeah they had ruin the badass look they had on Beck in the promo image thanks to his comedic like personaility. Still it was interesting to see his fusion look with the other bosses.

I don't know what to think of this but I have this awful gut-wrenching feeling. Here's hoping it does well and proves me wrong.

Look as much as I'm looking forward to the game...no, just no. Can we please wait till it's released and we know its good and such BEFORE we start the spin-offs and merchandise exploitation?
