Minecraft for Xbox 360 Gets XP, Animal Breeding, and More

Minecraft's console iteration continues to mature at a swift pace.

Just like its PC counterpart, Minecraft for Xbox 360 has been enjoying frequent updates since its release this past May. The upcoming (though yet undated) seventh title update will add a host of new features both for the hardcore block-smashing crowd and newcomers to the game.

For those unacquainted with what Minecraft is all about, the update will add a new Tutorial World that teaches some of the finer points. Animal breeding, enchanting, and experience points are also being added to further flesh out game for more experienced players. Villagers will also now populate parts of the world. The full list of additions reads as follows:


Animal Breeding
Potion Brewing
Experience Points
Enchantment Table
Mushroom Biome
Nether Fortress
New Tutorial World
Villagers
Mooshrooms
Blaze
Snow Golems
Magma Cubes
Baby Animals


For those looking forward to the eventual addition of "The End," - where Minecraft takes an even more surreal and frightening turn - you'll have to wait a bit; The End won't be added to the Xbox 360 Minecraft experience until the 8th update.

wow this will be a big catchup for the 360 version, but I hope they explain the enchanting system really well for unexperienced players in fact I know quite a few experienced players who still have to look up enchanting whenever they do it, or when they want to do it.

Also, how about Monster Eggs that allow you to decide where monsters/animals spawn? It's hard to get animals in the Underground Kingdom of the Moles.

Personally, as an arachnophobe who often plays minecraft alone, I say PLEASE DON'T ADD ANYTHING TO MAKE THE GAME MORE TERRIFYING THAN IT ALREADY IS!

Why are they so far behind? Does the porting team really have to start almost a year in advance getting the then-latest version ported over?

Quite a lot of it is to do with Microsoft's end with their certifications of the updates and that process can take some time, along with that the 360 version isn't Java based so it's basically being "crafted" from scratch.

Still I've been looking forward to this for some time since I've built too little with what we currently have and this will spruce things up once again.

As long as developers don't go Terraria's way, I'm ok with that.

Doesn't the touch version have a little unique content from the rest of the other versions?

I may be wrong on that one but in the end a little content won't hurt as much considering the PC version has infinite generation along with customising to your hearts desire with anything that the 360 will never have so I'd think it's somewhat fair.

RWBY is... interesting, the rooster teeth minecraft letsplays are fecking awesome, mainly because Michael goes Berserk at Gavin so many times.


I literally just bought the game for 360, so I am happy to know that the experience/enchanting update is coming up, thats the main thing that held me off from buying it for quite a while, but eventually I caved to some of my mates on LIVE, seems like a good time to have done so.
