This one wasn't actually my fault, but one of the infamous bugs caused by 1.4/1.6, I can't remember which. I was digging away with my diamond gear, turned around and creeper! boom. No problem, I can get back there quick enough, I'll just pick up my items and... WHY DID MY DIAMOND PICK BREAK?!

Turned out there was a bug where if you "dropped" an item, it would only be good for one more hit after that. o_O

Nothing bad so far, I haven't played much of Minecraft recently.

My first try on 1.8 was where I ran for maybe 80% of the day, quickly dug a house, slept in my bed, then was killed by a skeleton THAT FUCKING SPAWNS WHEN YOU TRY TO SLEEP.

Gah. I haven't touched Minecraft 1.8 since, but I HATE THAT SO MUCH.

I was doing basically the same thing, exploring a shaft, and this isnt a death story. but account frozen more like it. I went into a shaft with only 2 sets of wood tools. Looked at an enderman and had to delete world because like 4 were staring and if i looked away...FKIN HATE THOSE THINGS!!!!
Wait..wha..what? why would you delete your world because of that? They are not even that hard to kill, even with a stone sword

My save got corrupted because my computer sucks and tends to freeze on me so now it won't play at all and I had to start a new world. And I had almost finished replacing that desert with dirt.

Shut your doors and close any entrances to your home, and light the place well, that only happens if they can get to you, and if you went to sleep without any lights around you...yea

I have a massive FFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUU Minecraft moment today.

I've been testing out Fraps for a while, toying with the idea of creating my own Minecraft: Let's Play! series. However, ever since the 1.8 update, my Minecraft will freeze without fail almost every 5 minutes, rendering my hopes and dreams of becoming a Minecraft star ruined.

If you are getting the "out of memory" error check it might be that your java version is off. I was getting the same thing. 64 bit computers need to be running 64 bit java to keep minecraft from freezing. I had to download 64-bit java manually and install it. Afterwards everything worked fine.

Treehouse story.

I had grown this treehouse using bonemeal and was busy hollowing it out when my friend decided he'd like to help. Skip to 3-4 hours later and we have the finished product: Tree house doom fortress of awesome! My friend decides that it would be a hilarious idea to spawn leaves, put them down near the treehouse, and light them on fire so that I would hear the crackling and panic. The fire spread to the treehouse. I was on the topmost floor, heard crackling. Went down ladder to investigate. Immediately became trapped in a blazing inferno while my friend was both laughing and screaming sorry at me.

I responded by blowing the shit out of a castle he was building.

Good times.

When I was first starting to play Minecraft, I didn't know about the, "don't dig straight down", rule and I had found this huge diamond patch and was digging down with my inventory almost full and, "plop". Right into the lava below. I rage quitted after that.

I ran around for a couple of days just exploring a world, and finding a perfect spot. I found a waterfall and a nearby lava flow; ideal!

after building a house, I could hear a number of zombies. Exploring, I found a couple of open dungeons, and promptly dug out the ceiling and hopped in to get the goods when all of them had died. I'd collected all the chests, and all the items in them, when 3 zombies spawned instantaneously and killed me. It'd hit dusk. I tried running back to get all the goodies, but by the time it was day again they were gone.

After losing a grand total in the dozens of diamonds and diamond implements, countless stacks of iron, gold, lapis, redstone, at least three music disks, perhaps a dozen saddles, dozens of stacks of moss stone and numerous saddles to blundering drunkenly into lava, my wife and I now have a system.

Well... okay not so much a system as an obsessive-compulsive reflex. As soon as we break into any area with significant lava, we dig a safehouse, put down beds and build chests for everything of remote value.

Since then, we've only lost stone.

And two diamond picks.

And another music disk.

And some diamonds.

And everything else.

But less of everything else!

I've been having that same problem too. It's so weird. Minecraft just drops from 60 FPS to 0 FPS. Then after 10 sec., back to 60 FPS. The weirdest thing.

For anyone having the out-of-memory error, I was getting it within the first 30 seconds of any session in 1.8.1

I've since changed the render distance from 'far' to 'normal' and it's made all the difference, I was able to play non-stop for over an hour last night.

I was in a very deep cave with no idea where I was and carrying lots of iron and diamond ore, armor, good weapons, compass, watch, other good stuff, with none left at my spawn, you know the typical FFUUUU Minecraft story intro. Turn a corner, Creeper ''Good Day Ssssssssssssssir'', fall down the hole from explosion and land 1 block next to lava. I survived with half a heart. Good thing I survived, turn around and BOOM another creeper.

I was on a multiplayer server with a volcano on it. There was also a block of ice there, so I decided, since I was bored, to completely extinguish the volcano and nom all the Obsidian I'd create with my Diamon pickaxe.

It went brilliantly, for a while. I turned many, many lava blocks into Obsidian blocks. I ended up getting 64 Obsidian.

Then I committed the cardinal sin of standing on a block while mining it.

At least all the lava in that volcano is still hidden beneath a carpet of obsidian, and the water is still flowing on the outside (making an awesome water volcano!), but my diamond pickaxe and 64 obsidian blocks? Of course not.
You're patience to obtain a stack of obsidian, irks me...
It was quite hard to get the water to extinguish the lava in just the right ways, so it was really quite exciting. Overall I had great fun doing it. Just too bad about the end to the story...

Well, in my minecraft world, aptly named Creepertopia (because of how many creepers destroyed my house) I constantly get lost. And this one time while I was in a mine I had found about 5 diamonds with 3 sets of iron pick axes, spades, and swords plus full iron armor, a map, a compass, clock and a whole inventory full of gold and iron. I was getting ready to head back out when I got lost in the mine. So I tunneled my way out only to get lost in the woods that surround my house. Well, a skeleton offed me, and when I tried to go back and collect my items, they had de-spawned by the time I located where I died. I think I also had a diamond pick ax with me since I was also mining obsidian.

Also I lost about 20 diamonds thanks to random lava pools.
