MLB The Show developed by Sony has been announced to come to other platforms including Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. this has traditionally been a Sony Playstation exclusive making this the first Sony developed game for the Switch and Xbox One.

What's going on here? why are Sony and Microsoft suddenly starting to share their exclusive games? first Cuphead and Ori come to Switch and now MLB comes to Switch and Xbox? What will we see happen next? Mario Kart on Xbox and Playstation?

this is weird...

Cuphead was always a timed exclusive. It technically wasn't even exclusive since you could buy it on Steam. As for MLB the show, I'm quite surprised. I never suspected this whatever happened. I considered a great thing though, because now other people can play this great franchise.

i'm still not buying it. all it is baseball. the only other sports as boring as baseball would be cricket and golf.

Understandable and more power to you. there are many others that wanted to play this game, but didn't have a PS4 or did not want a PS4. So now they have that chance. Baseball is more fun when you're usually there at the stadium and have people to interact with. It's a lot more boring on television I can tell you that.

Cool, opening up your franchise to new platforms and new audiences is only a good thing. Congrats to anyone who cares about baseball.

It?s odd that Sony would willingly give up a major exclusive. Wonder who pressured them, the MLB?

I also wonder how the franchise will end up now. Guessing full of Micro transactions and other EA-like bs.

I'm guessing it's a bit of MLB working with Sony to get The Show on more systems just because of how incompetent 2K was with making baseball games (as they have/had the 3rd party exclusivity). It would be in MLB's best interest to have a baseball game that everyone can play vs just being on Playstation. It would probably also be in Sony's best interest to have more gamers buying the game as I doubt The Show is something causing a significant amount of people to choose Playstation over another platform. Thus, it's a win-win for both sides. Although hitting hasn't been "right" in the series in like 5 years.

I doubt it as long as Sony is still publishing as Sony has yet to go into the deep end with microtransactions. The Show does have them for Road To The Show mode where you can buy points to make your player better faster, but unlike NBA 2K it's totally not needed to play the mode normally. Also, I believe you can buy card packs in Diamond Dynasty mode, an online mode of building your ultimate team. The Diamond Dynasty type modes (as all sports games have them now) have never interested me as I only care about playing Season/Franchise mode with my favorite team or playing online leagues with said favorite team. I actually made the official tournament ladder way back in MLB The Show 09 playing as the worst ranked team against everyone playing as the Yankees but I know baseball (along with knowing everything going on under-the-hood in the game) and most really don't.
