People will call it CoD6

You can't change how people internalize things like names.

They want the CoD name to be fixed after Treyarch took a huge shit on it.
I need to ask you this, but how exactly was World at War bad?

Or are you one of those "Its popular, so I hate it" kind of people.

Ugh, I jsut had this conversation with another guy on a different thread. Long sotry short, it was a bad game, let alone a bad CoD game. I was an obvious cash in on IW's success. Treyarch fucked up HC mode, co-op, single player, multiplayer, and pretty much the whole game. Hell, it took 3 patches just to be playable for most people. I could go into detail, but I would prefer not to repeat myself unlesss you absolutely need me to.

Wait wasn't the CoD:WaW ranking exactly the same, except longer?
I never said the WaW ranking system was ideal...?

And really, the weapons weren't OP at higher levels. Look at the Snipers for instance, since they are the only ones I can all remember. You get the most accurate sniper in the beginning, the fastest sniper in the beginning/middle ( which is in my opinion, the best), a sort of combo of the first two snipers at the middle/higher levels, and a powerful sniper at the last couple of levels, but it isn't very accurate and has a huge kickback. So from my perspective this seems really balanced.
Not really, the problem with CoD is the lack of variety in the weapons, the only difference between the snipers were the firing rates. They were all to similar in my experience.

Finally, the whole point of prestige is just that: a little bit of recognition for how much time you've put into the game. Nothing more, nothing less.
Something it shouldn't be, I'm claiming I don't like the prestige system, and you've just tried to tell me what its there for; I know why its there I'm expressing my contempt for it.
The only difference between snipers is the fire rate? I honestly have no idea where you got that from. Go shoot a M40 then a Baretta .50 Cal and there is a huge difference between them. Plus there's like 30 different guns in the game, so why would you say that the weapons lacked variety?

I also don't see how you dislike the prestige system in CoD4. What's wrong with implementing an effective and fairly easy way to extend the life of the MP? Nobody's forcing to you to prestige, and many people like to do it because it gives them a higher goal to strive towards. CoD4 would be a lot duller without it, and is, from what I've heard from my lvl 55 10th prestige friends.

I played through the PC version 100% fine with no patches installed. And the single player campaign was not bad, given it was not brilliant, it was still above average.

Ill leave it there, neither of us wants to have a ***** fight over the internet im pretty sure, just wanted to know what you didn't like about it so much :S

Oh and on topic, the box art does look like crap with the CoD logo stuck on there.

Huh... Well whatever Activision thinks is right I guess. As long as the game is good, call it anything you damn well please.

I assume this is due to that public poll that displayed negative results regarding the publics awareness that Modern Warfare 2 was a sequel to COD4. This was a clever money-making move on Activition's part, and although I fully dislike the box art, I'm glad they've finally decided on a name...

Now if only they'd give us some more details regarding the actual gameplay...
Have you played Call of Duty 4? Well, pretty much the exact same gameplay will be in MW2.

On topic, how BLOODY STUPID can people get? Consumer awareness of one of the biggest releases dropped when they dropped the CoD name? You need a special kind of idiot for that sort of thing to happen.
Allow me to introduce you to the human, or homo sapiens: A fledgling, backwards creature, that is remarkable for it's extraordinarily short attention span, and lack of attention to detail.

So is it Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 or just Modern Warfare 2? Maybe we should just whisper the Call of Duty part but shout out and put special stress on the Modern Warfare 2 part when we're saying the game of the game out loud. "Excuse me, sir, I'd like to buy callofduty MODERN WARFARE 2 please," you'll say at GameStop later this year.
HAH! That sounds something out of a Monty Python sketch, if I buy this game I'll make it happen!

Hilarious turn of events, considering it was such a bold move too. It's a giant kick in the balls for them, to find that their successful game isn't quite as successful as they thought it was.
Not without the CoD tag anyway.

I'm still going to call it COD 6, even though its the seventh COD game. Eighth if you include the console version of Big Red One.

It's still COD6, I don't care if they call it War in Present: Honor of Duty...my friends and I will still call if COD6, just like World at War was COD5. Modern Warfare 2 or Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, I don't care, it's just another FPS game, unfortunately I'll be picking it up because it's all my friends will be playing when it comes out.
callofduty MODERN WARFARE 2 isnt COD 6, neither was COD World At War COD 5.
Technically, no. But most of the people I know call it that, and that's what we're still calling it.
You're gonna get some trouble when they actually do start numbering the games again.

More on topic, I'm happy they decided to call it CoD again, because honestly "Modern Warfare" on its own is a horrible title for a game.
Also the customer awareness thing doesn't surprise me, everybody knows CoD but only the hardcore crowd knows that MW2 is a sequel to CoD4:MW. For most people it was simply CoD4.

The whole purpose of dropping the Call of Duty prefix was to get the game attention, and now no-one cares so they're getting more attention now.

It seems to me that this box art is a fake. Or at least a preliminary concept. The most notable thing is the "Xbox Live" in the upper right corner. All new Xbox 360 games only say "Live" yet this box breaks that with "Xbox Live". That and the fact that this is the same picture GameInformer had on its cover a couple months ago. It seems unlikely that the same picture on the magazine would be the picture on the box, because GI would be showing off the game's cover art before it is actually unveiled; something they'd never do. Everything looks photoshopped on, and very well could be. Nothing on the cover is "new" or something the public hasn't seen. Magazine cover onto old 360 case with the Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty logos photoshopped over top.

No, offically they aren't. But I bet 90% of people call WaW CoD5. I'll be calling MW2 CoD6 no matter how much the swing between names. It justs comes easier off the tongue.

Is it still going to be CoD:MW2? I didn't think anything of it until I saw the unboxing vids for the supposedly final prestige and hardened editions and noticed they don't have the CoD logo on them.
