More Free Battlefront Content (Including Maps) is Coming

Maybe Battlefront will eventually get enough free content to justify its price tag?

The Battle of Jakku [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/tag/view/star%20wars%20battlefront?os=star+wars+battlefront] is also planned for next week. The good news is that Jakku is not just a once-off, and EA is planning to release more free content, including maps, in the future.

"We are also planning to support Star Wars Battlefront with new content well into the future. We will be adding more of what you love about the game, like new maps and Star Cards, for free in the coming months," wrote the publisher in a blog post [http://starwars.ea.com/starwars/battlefront/news/start-of-your-star-wars-adventure].

While this won't help the game's overall lack of depth caused from the abscence of features like multi-seat vehicles, squads, and unique classes, it should certainly help the problem it has with content. At release, only four maps were available for Walker Assault and Supremacy - the game's most popular and featured modes.

Hopefully EA will continue to support the game both before and after its Season Pass has run its course, in a similar fashion to the excellent support Battlefield 4 has been receiving of late [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/139888-EA-DICE-Battlefield-4-Community-Map].

My god, a sixty dollar season pass? I know EA likes suck us dry, but good heavens.

I guess the free content is good news, but it's really the very least they could do. I'm not sure how people could shell out sixty dollars for a multiplayer only game with four maps. It's actually worse then I had imagined. It's unavoidable, though, seeing as they have to have it out by December. They probably just figured they'd release it early, and add the full content later.

But yeah $60 season pass is steep, especially for what they usually include. Better be some damn good maps though free content is good.

I hate season passes. It just makes you feel so damn cheated even if you're not. I hate the fact that for EA every game is a sports game. I have so much fatigue over all this nonsense honestly. It's getting so exhausting. The mechanisms for complaining about it are getting annoying. Kotaku is annoying. EA is annoying. Season Passes are annoying. The games that come out with really good models are good, but they get praised so much just for being like that. I'm almost to tired to finish this post... Fuck everything... seriously...

Seriously, had they just waited a little while to announce the season pass and maybe dropped the price down to 30-40 dollars depending on how much content they can actually guarantee for it, this whole thing would have gone over so much better. Hell, wait until a bunch of content is ready, slap a 30 dollar price tag on it and call it an expansion and you'd have people praising it from here to the high heavens.

Still no regrets about getting a refund on it though.
