I loved the subtlety of these mods

Aren't Bethseda officially patching the 4gb problem? I can't find the link but I thought I read that here at one point

EDIT: Ah okay, you mentioned they were working on it here

Yeah they did say it was on their list but the mod works until they patch it in.

How does the HD textures affect the visual settings? Does it only override ultra?

Does anyone know if there's a mod that allows a mix of controller and mouse control scheme? I couldn't find one although I haven't had much time to look recently. I prefer an analogue stick for movement and a mouse for aiming but the controller overrides most other inputs the moment it's plugged in.

So many mods... So little time to actually play =/

Definitely trying the HD and Lush Grass mods...
If only it would stop crashing while running all of my HD textures and custom ini then I would be happy.

I really can't wait for the Creation Kit to come out. When modders can have their way with altering and adding stuff it can prolong the game's life.

I've only got the ore vein-mod right now. Don't really want to blow up my machine with all the current texturing-mods, I'm just happy my old computer can run the game altogether.

I'm curious, what settings do you play on to be able to run that HD texture pack? I have a more powerful computer than the one you described and I get some lag on highest settings, which is a shame.

And there's still no mod to tell me how long I have until my stoneflesh spell wears off.

How was this not the first thing put in?

There are lots of tedious UI things I would like to fix.

The "minimalist" hud is nice for game box art but is an asspain for lots of game situations. Is my weapon poisoned? Well the only way to know is to click on a poison and if it doesn't apply the poison then apparently yes my weapon is poisoned.

How long do I have left on my oakflesh, or my summon/zombie, do I have enough mana to cast the spell that is currently in my hands? What helmet do I have equipped? What is my current carry weight? How many healing potions do I have? What is my smithing/alchemy/price/stat/skill X bonus right now?

All of these things should be displayed on the main screen and accessible at a glance.

Liking these articles!

My Favorite simple mod is probably 'no NPC greetings'. I've never walked through a town and had people clamor to spout their life-stories & dreams, so I'm glad this mod stops townsfolk doing it in Skyrim.

I remember following Tolfdir in the Mages College for a considerable time, and I had to artificially keep my distance or he'd stop, turn and witter as if I was trying to start a conversation with him, just by virtue of my proximity. I'm just walking here, Tolfdir! We're all walking! To a place!

I'm quite fond of destruction re-balancing mods and new spells too (particularly 'Midas').

Definitely agree with the sounds Mod. Sound is absolutely essential for immersion.

However that Lush Grass Mod, I hate grass, it gets in the way of finding weapons and items that drop on the floor, I always keep it turned off in Oblivion.

Here are a few more mods that let me concentrate on slaying dragons and stealing lady clothes in Skyrim instead of wanting to find the guy who designed the UI at Bethesda and throw a mug of hot Nord mead in his face.
Tito...... I think the Nords may send you to the chopping block for insinuating that any of them drink their mead warm. Or for any reason would heat up a tankard of it to throw into some saps face. I think you owe the Nords of Skyrim an apology, which will probably have you killing necromancers in some way.

And I wish I had Skyrim for my Mac, but she's old and couldn't handle it. So I make due with just the 360 version.... modless. *Sobs*.

Whatever is actually the case with Bethesda either hard-coding or not hard-coding any memory limits, my copy is more stable and crashes much less often when I use the 4GB mod. Both crashes to the desktop and hard reboots are down a lot for me.

I have both the 4gb skyrim and the better sorting mods. I adore them because lets face it, the UI was designed for consoles. Those of us who prefer our TES series on PC need something a bit more organized. :) I recommend those two mods!

Oh and if you want humor, I heard there was a "Cursing Mudcrab" mod. I saw a video of it. Made me laugh.

Once again I am sad/angry that Microsoft has to break balls. Why haven't gamers ever tried to organize a union or a boycott.

From what I can gather the article is actually still correct. While you're correct, I think originally the game allowed for 4GB of RAM to be used, and they downgraded it to 2GB when they were doing a security patch. They introduced the patch to stop pirates among other things and the 2GB limit was somehow part of that(not sure how).

I could be totally wrong but thats what I gathered at least.
