I'm trying to get Rise of House Telvanni mod for morrwind on steam, I've tried everything I could think of and its not working. It's not able to find the esm file for some reason, I've tried nexus, wrye mash and even tried downloading it manually. I've never downloaded any mod for any game manually before, so I got other mods to see if I could, and those show up fine and I can activate them. But those were esp files. I've been at this for day, I'm frustrated and I could really use some help.

Is it the only mod you have installed? I've had problems with mods conflicting with eachother. I have also accidently installed Oblivion mods on Morrowind. Heheh.

Oh yes...You do have Bloodmood & Mournhold expansions installed, right? A ton of mods won't function without them.

Maybe this updated version will have better instillation instructions: http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=mods.detail&id=4449

That was the very first mod I tired to install, and RoHT is compatible with bloodmoon and tribunal. I think it requires both.

Are you sure you put all the mod files where they belong?

Did you go to Data Files in the launcher and select them?

What .esm file does it need? Most mods don't include an .esm file, but an .esp file.

The Steam version comes with the expansions already installed.

I'm positive I put them in the right place. And I've added mods since and those work fine.

This says it is an esm file.
Does it give you the name of the .esm file, or just says that one is missing? There should be at least 3 esm files selected in the Data Files menu (The main one plus 2 for the expansions). If the mod has its own .esm file, it should've been along with the rest of the mod files and should've been placed in the same directory as the other .esm/.esp files. It's also possible that the mod requires the .esm file of another mod. To see if that's the case, check the mod's description on Nexus and see if it has any special requirements.

Yeah, bloodmoond, tribunal, and morrowind are three active master files. the Rise of House Telvanni mod I'm trying to get working comes with several mods as addons. All of the addons show up fine in data files, but beside each one, in the description, it says "Rise of House Telvanni.esm is required for this file to be loaded, and it is missing. Locate this file before playing the game." When I go and look in the actual morrowind file, I find everything the mod's readme says I'm supposed to, even a program that says its the esm file. I don't know why I cant get it to work, but I have to get it to work. I won't play morrowind again without it, and two other mods that I personally feel are essential.

Maybe the source you got the mod from gave you a corrupted version? If it's available from other sites, you may want to try one of those.

I don't see anywhere where you said you selected "data files" from the launcher and then checked the box for the mod. Did you do that OP?

It's not in the data files in the launcher. The add-ons show up fine but like I said before, the add-ons say that they cant run without RoHt.esm and I need to find it before those will work. The add-ons and the other mods show up in the data files from the launcher.

You sure it doesn't require anything that doesn't show up as a .esm or .esp? Usually big mods can't take a few steps without requiring a Script Extender or some other supplementary software.

And what launcher are you using? If you're using the Nexus Mod Manager, dump it and go for the Morrowind Mod Manager.

However, I'm speaking purely out of experiencing modding other Bethesda games. I haven't even installed Morrowind, much less know any modding tricks.

First I tried nexus because thats what I've used with skyrim, but after that didn't work I tried manually installing it, and then I downloaded wrye mash, each time I got the same outcome. Add-ons show up in the data files in the morrowind launcher but it wont let me activate them because its missing the Rise of House Telvanni esm file. Those addons came with the mod when I downloaded it and the esm file is here where its supposed to be but for some reason its not reading it. Did I download it wrong? Is there a separate thing I have to do to where I can activate esm files? I know I'm not the best with technical stuff, maybe on the lower end of average, but I'm pretty sure I'm not that incompetent, I mean I would think I'm at least able to activate a mod, even an uncommon one like this thats an esm instead of an esp.
