So you ever imagine what Pokemon would be like if real biologists had something to do with how it was written? Or if the premise of what's basically recreational dog-fighting was taken to its logical extreme?
The answer as it turns out, is a sprawling dystopia populated by: mutants, hybrids, the undead & the occasional straight up monster (the average life expectancy of normal humans is what you'd expect it to be). That being said, Mortasheen as a setting isn't that much of a downer. The tone is more reminiscent of "The Nightmare Before Christmas" or "Beetlejuice" than standard gothic horror fare.
As an example, here's what's essentially the author's interpretation of Mew:

An overgrown (an oddly adorable) biomechanical telepathic nanite with Akira-esque potential for destruction.
Still very much in development, but I've been following it for a while now- and I figure there's gotta be some aging Pokemon geeks here who'd eat it right up.
As a thought experiment, I decided to build a Pokemon style "team" of bioconstructs:

http://www.bogleech.com/mortasheen/victrossus.htm
http://www.bogleech.com/mortasheen/afterspawn.htm
http://www.bogleech.com/mortasheen/oodoov.htm
(Considering the nature of the setting, I figured I was better off designing a team to take out enemy *trainers* as opposed to monsters. Plus, this way I get to keep all their knowledge when I'm done.)
