I have to say that the movie that surprised my most was "The Prince of Egypt" not only for its compelling acting but also for the fact that it was an 'honest to god' good and entertaining religious film.

I loved the music in The Prince of Egypt. To be honest anything from Dreamworks animation days (not their CGI stuff) is pretty fantastic, with The Road to El Dorado becoming one of my favourite animated films of all time, despite my hesitance to watch it initially.

Ya that really was a well made movie the animation was beautiful and the pacing was perfect. Not to mention the voice work was really spot on.

Warner Bros. did the Iron Giant I think, I wasn't keen on that film though oddly.

Probably Megamind. I wasn't expecting anything special, only that it was meant to be better than the pretty mediocre Despicable Me. When I sat down and watched it I was blown away. It pretty much grabs you right from the start and never lets go. Fantastic movie.

It was a good movie but the new animation style they tried to pull off made it unappealing to watch.

I was really surprised by "How to Train your Dragon" and "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs".

My brother and I saw Dragon in 3-D and I remember us both taking our glasses off at the same time at the end with this awestruck look on our faces. Really easy to get immersed into the story, I liked the characters, and I loved what happened to the main character at the end. It seemed like such a ballsy move to put into a kids movie and it was very refreshing.

I was turned off from watching Cloudy just because it looked like every Fairly Odd Parents episode ever, but I remember how consistently funny it was and the animation style grew on me. Not much of a story >.> but I'd definitely see it again.

The Road to El Dorado is really great mainly because they had the characters first appear like your average villain but with more personal charm. GOLD!
Yeah, I really liked it.

Meet the Robinsons was a genuine surprise for me. I was working at a grocery store that was showing it on repeat to demo a display TV set, so I'd catch bits and pieces of it in between the busy hours. Eventually, curiosity got the best of me and I rented it one night, just so I could see it from start to finish, without any interruptions.

What I expected was standard CGI Disney trash. What I got was something genuinely funny and surprisingly heartfelt in a way that wasn't too Hallmark-y. Great movie, highly recommended.

I loved Frollo! The song he did was one of my favorites out of any animated film (sans Tarzan).

However, I couldn't sit through it now as I realized what a despicable Mary Sue the love interest was.

He was also the first Disney villain I ever felt true fear for, he was quite maniacal!

I'm usually a fan of Warner Bros animation. Every feature length Batman animation they did was gold, I'm re-watching Batman The Animated Series right now and it's spot on. The animation, voice acting and stories.

Megamind. I do find that more and more animated movies are made these days for parents as much as for kids, and so obviously everyone in between too. Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs was pretty good, but I loved Megamind.

I think that the main hero in the movie is actually Frollo and the way in which he deals with his temptation is the plot. I'm serious. I'm not catholic (not even christian, I just used to listen to songs by church choirs and picked up some Latin), but the songs you hear in the background (sang by the priests) really enhances the experience.
