Which character's death had a great story impact or freaked you out? At the top of my head, I have two death. Modern Warfare when Gaz got shot and MW2 when Roach and Ghost died.

Yeah they got me too. Something I wasnt expecting a plot twist like that from MW2.

However I have to admit a few deaths have had an impact on me. Seeing your dad die on Fallout 3 also had me go "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"

Also in Condemned 2. The guys who died with the police officer in the "abandoned" hotel. The way he was placed out was really freaky.

The most surprising death has to be the guy's wife in Bionic Commando only because of the fact that now lives in his bionic arm.

Well, I'd actually say in the game 'Mafia' where...
...at the end of the game, you get shot on your front lawn as an old man.
Best story in an open world game...ever

I would say Paulie from mafia, but some asshole spoiled that for me. So the Ending of Episode 2, I suppose. Not really surprising. Just sad.

It wasn't so much of the character's themselves but the way ghost and roach died that made it memorable.
Gaz on the other hand I was genuinely sad to see go.

Fallout 3, when you die in the radiation chamber. Kind of lost it's impact when Broken Steel was released.

CoD4, when all your squad-mates die suddenly with almost no warning. I was expecting them all to escape happily, and get those beers. This too was ruined when MW2 brought Captain Price back as a prisoner, even though the Russian medic had proclaimed him dead. Even if he was dead, they still would have brought his body back for burial, so how the Russians got him makes no sense. A surprise, yes, sensible, no.

Mirror's Edge: When merc dies.

HL2: Episode 2. Damn you Valve!

Not really a death per se, but Seth's fate at the very end of Lost Odyssey sucked pretty hard.

you could easily tell eli was going to die, for me it was no suprise seeing as he was the only one who knew of the gman and was about to tell you everything before alyx interrupted you in the
briefing room

granted the actual death was well done, but certainly not surprising

now mafia was a sad and surprisng one and to think you might actually be the one killing your old player character in the sequel

Aeris, Final Fantasy VII... so sad.
There was supposedly a way you could bring her back to life, I tried for days and days, it really was horrible.

I'd have to go with aeris gainsborough, FF7 - as a kid, it was not only traumatising but totally out of the blue, too.

edit- I so got ninja'd -.-
