Ive been away from the genre for pretty much the last generation. IE the last I?ve played was I think Killzone: Shadow Fall on PS4 and Wolfenstein: TNO (yet to finish) on PC.
Kind of in the mood to see what I?ve been missing if anything; more interested in technically accurate shooters in regards to ballistics, weapon recoil, sound, enemy hit responses, etc. I know there?s Arma 3 or whatever the latest is but that?s too sim-heavy to even be fun imo.
The last games that really impressed me in these regards were Crysis on PC and Killzone 2/3 on PS3 (yeah I was mostly disappointed by Shadow Fall other than visually). Kind of curious about Far Cry 5 but not really keen an yet another massive open world full of icons as I?m still playing RDR2. Speaking of, I?ve tried the 1st person mode and it?s kinda neat (especially seeing the gun smoke while reloading a shotgun) but to me it was never truly designed with 1st person in mind, and I love the added character detail of 3rd person.
So having said that, any recommendations from the well-versed gamers in this genre is much appreciated!
