It must have been done before, but someone must be new here and there are plenty of new games out -

I?ve just been playing Saint?s Row 2 and in one of the cut scenes ended up having a gun fight with a character dressed and looking EXACTLY the same I had designed my character. It was like I was killing my twin from a rival gang. Probably not what the developers had in mind.

It reminded of a time playing Rogue Squadron when I cocked the entire mission up then flew my X-wing into the transport ship I was trying to protect. Just as I did my wing man called out something like ?Great flying Red 5?. But he did it in such a happy tone it was beyond sarcasm.

I also recall seeing an Assassin?s Creed video on youtube where one of the guards had his walking path disrupted and ended up looking like he was sneaking away to the corner for a wank (and kept checking over his shoulder while he did it). That was pretty funny.

Anyone got any others? Not just renaming your character something like ?my balls? so the first NPC who sees you says, ?I?ve missed you my balls.? But totally unpredictable ones that developers never would have seen coming.

I dunno if it counts, but there was a small glitch on Fallout 3 which involved a Mirelurk King getting his head stuck in a locker, and going to a huge effort trying to pull it out.
In the end, he succeeded, but closed the door on his hand in the process, so he sat on his hand and knees vibrating quietly to himself.

In Half Life one, there's a section where your walking around the side of a cliff, on a very narrow path. At the end, there's a pipe you have to go into to get to the next area.
I reached the pipe, and there was a headcrab at the entrance. It jumped at me, and I instinctively ducked. It flew over my head and fell hundreds of metres off the cliff, while I just stared, dumbstruck. I looked over the edge, and it was crawling around on the skybox, unharmed. Weird and funny as hell.

That counts. That's exactly the sort of ones I'm talking about. Someone must have some good Half-Life 2 or Metal Gear ones.

exact same thing happened to me in half life 2...

you know, at the bit when you're sneaking into the citadel, and then there's a lone headcrab waiting there.

Probably all of the beginning of Half Life 2 (I think mainly because I never actually finished HL but whatever). I really didn't know where I was going and I kept getting pushed around by the Combine soldiers...that was before I was being chased and shot at all along the rooftops (which made no sense, and I found pretty funny), even the NPCs I'd never met seemed to know what was going on but...I dunno. It was funny at the time in the randomness. I had a friend to complain to so that was probably it....

I think they put those bits in intentionally, as comic relief.

there was this spy game that never made it out of R&D.
it was supposed to be from a China-based developer about an American overthrowing a corrupt regime. naturally, it succumbed to Engrish Syndrome, and during the barely developed tutorial, you are often instructed to "hit him from behind, to put him into dreaming". many cock jokes subsequently ensued.

Good thing they did, otherwise those last few levels would have been mucho depressing...

most resident evil games, I always find it funny when the protagonist is a woman and while she does all the work in the zombie killing the guy is often looking for a way to escape, then while they are in the helicopter escaping she cuddles up to him as if no more than a helpless female whom he saved...i find it ironic thats all.

This.

And as for me: Crysis. The look on the Korean's faces when you grabbed them had me laughing myself stupid.
Here is a sneak-peek for those of you who haven't played it:
I also hear some of the jokes being told around the campfire in S.T.A.L.K.E.R are quite funny, partly because some of them are quite cheesy.

In inFamous I was randomly fighting some reapers and was just basically using shock grenades and force blasts. Some how I stacked five cars on top of each other up against the side of a building. But the funny thing is that a pedestrian was stuck under them and he was just downed, not dead.

Another time, there was this mission where you get to choose to either save this girl's brother or just take her shards. Because I was doing the evil pathway i just went and took the shards. She got mad and starting pelleting me with rocks and stuff, so I punched her once just to down her. Randomly I decided to revive her, but almost instantly she went right back to yelling and hitting me.

In Assinss Creed I was able to get two bums to shove each other, thanks to a little bit of timing. It was funny because, while one bum rolled away harmlessly, the other seemed to start a chain reaction by knocking over one of those fish crate things. Eventually a guard got knocked over and started chasing after me.

The first time I got let out into the mall in Dead Rising. I spent the first twenty minutes laughing my ass off.

Has no one mentioned "That was too close! You could have been a Jill Sandwich!" or "Jill, master of lockpicking" from Resident Evil? I thought those were pretty much the gold standard for unintentional humour in games...

Well... Quite recently, while playing Oblivion, I came across a two Imperial Legion Foresters who were both trying to kill one another in the name of the emperor.
