So Taleworlds have broke their silence announcing the release date of Mount and Blade 2 Bannerlord.... for early access. Next year. March 2020

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCk6Jk7DvrA

It's kinda got me going huh, because it's already been so long and only now early access? If you look at any Bannerlord video there are so many comments with the "Bannerlord When" meme.

But oh well. Any news is good news.

Btw if you like Mount and Blade check out the Prophesy of Pendor total conversion mod its awesome.

I'll have to try that, is it complete? Most of the time I get excited about mod I usually find out that they did like 10% of what they said there mod would do, with plenty of missing/broken content.

But yeah at this point I'm wondering what kind of development bannerlord had, usually long development cycle are very bad news, but at the same time for all I know they're just 5 person working on bannerlord so it could be understandable for it to take this long.

Oh yeah Pendor was complete years ago, they do add new things and tweak but I think we are almost up to version 4 by now.

It's great, it feels like its own full game, the units are much more balanced no situations like vanilla mount and blade where you just spam Swadian Knights. Speaking of the whole issue with knights they also came up with an elegant solution, knights are still op but harder to get since they are now drawn from these various knighthood orders, you can join them yourself and buy knights, put friendly knighthood orders in your own castles and buy them with this currency called prestige that is gained based on your renown and honor(I think). Its great, though there are a few knights you can get outside these orders like some rather weak ones and some rare troops.

Theres even custom Knighthood orders you can make yourself at the very expensive price of a Qualis gem, but they are worthless for 90% of the game because they start statless and wearing peasant clothes and you need to invest lots of time and money to make them better.

Starting a kingdom has some help too since you can hire these mercenaries to help you out, which is a great balancing thing because it can help you survive the initial founding of your kingdom when everyone wants to attack you. You just need lots of money.

Plus theres dialogue options with your companions to get them to fetch troops for you, and they are all unique new companions by the way.

Plus Pendor has all the little quality of life fixes like fights not ending when you die(but you lose all control of your troops, they just charge) So you don't lose that battle where it's so onesided losing just because you went down is ridiculous. Or the ability to immediately talk to the questgivers in town without having to walk up to them all.

Theres so many troops types in Pendor too its crazy. I pretty much can't play vanilla Mount and Blade anymore thanks to that mod, whenever I go back its for Pendor.

Anyway heres some Bannerlord gameplay.

IT'S ALMOST HARVESTING SEASON!

Seriously though, this is good stuff. Maybe now all the people that whinge about release dates every single time the weekly blog post from Taleworlds arrived will now finally shut up.

If I didn't know what Mount and Blade was, that trailer would mislead me. Looks more like Total War than, well, Mount and Blade.
