Lately I've noticed that when playing games, there is a notable lag between moving my mouse and the cursor moving. Especially in shooters, this makes playing incredibly difficult. Is there any way to fix this?

Buy a new one.

Serious now:
What mouse do you have? Is it just slow or lag? Wired or wireless?

I'd assume the program is taking up a lot of your computer's power and your computer is putting less priority on the mouse.

Really depends what the specific trouble is, if it's just slow moving from time to time, it moves but a second after you move the mouse, if it jumps or skips.

Could be your brain lagging and taking a second to realise what's going on in the game :p

Disable v-sync. I have found that every time this happens to me it's because v-sync is on. Turn it off. In fact, just turn it off even if it isn't. It's such a horrible, horrible thing.

What he said. Also what surface is the mouse on? That can have a huge effect on performance.

If your mouse is on the fritz go buy a Razer... but now I'm just jumping the gun.

Yah I have a huge probelm with my mouse, it happens out of no where....It just freezes. Everything else works find...but that obstinate mouse refuses to move. I will go 10-15 seconds frozen then reappear where I left it.

Its terribly annoying!

Razer is a good company, also Logitech is a good alternative for good gaming mice. A bit cheaper.

How far away are is your mouse from your receiver?
If you're over 2 meters away I'd sugest getting a blu-tooth mouse.

Ps: have you tryed new batteries?
Mine often does that when its hungry for more juice

I have some generic Microsoft wireless mouse, I'll get one that doesn't suck once I get some extra cash.

Also, it's about 1 foot from the reciever and I'll try new batteries.
