Do you suppose there will ever be a point when Sony and Microsoft start to support the development of AO rated games and allow them to be released on their systems? I think that AO games would be a great step in video gaming mainstream and that sales would spike. I think that the amount of minors that would get a hold of them would be relatively minimal (the bastards at Game Stop try to card me when I try to buy M rated games and I?m 25). Well I hope Sony figures it out before history repeats it self (lets not forget what porn restrictions did to Beta tape players, Beta still a better format than VHS).

As for the current amount of nudity in video games I don?t think it?s a problem. Whether nudity in games is tasteful and serves a purpose or it?s mindless and designed for the immature I think that the biggest thing that people need to remember is that these games are rated M. They are not designed for children and if people are worried about children getting access to them education campaigns should be launched, directed at the parents.

Cantfakethefunk just wanted this story so he could use as many nicknames for penises as he could think of... You all know it.

Anyone else just smell a money-grabbing scheme for the video game industry. I wanna see censorship groupies get up in arms over gore. Not just violence. I mean, real gore. Something new and different for a change.

Because most games can't tell a realistic story to save their life to begin with - I don't think that will change with CG dolls flailing naked on screen.

I'm not opposed to sex in video games, but given that I can't hire a movie these days without some obligatory sex scene (even implied ones in freakin "family" movies) I dread to see where this could go. I've noticed in The Simpsons that Marge and Homer get it on or talk about it a lot more, which means my young kids can no longer watch it (a lot of the more subversive adult humour goes over their heads) and that's a shame.

The game The Darkness managed to generate what felt like an intimate, caring relationship without the need to show or even hint of them bumping uglies and the Mass Effect scene was tastefully done. What's wrong with leaving things the way they are? If I want to have sex I'll go have sex, not go and play it on a game.
I want to do things in games that I can't do in real life, like save the world or smash cars to bits with my bare hands.

I've seen some Sims 2 mods that show that some cats should be left in the bag.

(Who puts cats in bags, anyway? Cats hate bags.)

I've heard that before but, I can't remember where.

I agree w/ Winda though. I've never understood the double standard w/ movies and games. Sex in games is not a selling point for me. I didn't even know there was sex in Mass effect until I got to that part of the story.

As long as it's done tastefully and fits in with the story (Mass Effect is probably the best example I can think of at the moment) and is not just thrown in to attract more customers then I say yes, bring it on.

It is time games were treated like the equal form of media they are, not just as children's toys, but as a real and valid way to telling a story just as well as any book or film.

I really think that if used correctly this could be a wonderful advance in plot driven games. however think of all the rushed sex simulators that would hit the shelves long before any well planed story based games.
January 1st 2010- Nudity and Sex allowed in video games
January 2nd 2010- Game Developers begin brainstorming ideas for games
May 1st 2010- Huge wave of crap games hits all consoles, basically all sex simulators
May 2nd 2010- "Think of the children" or similar groups begin to lash out at gaming industry despite AO rating on all games with full scenes of sex and nudity
(sometime) 2010 or 2011- Sex and nudity banned from games before the big developers who were planing on using Sex in a plot advancing way can come out with their games. Adult gaming community laments loss of: Fallout 4, the Elder Scrolls 6, Fable 4, and especially Dead or Alive Extreme 3 with Xbox natal support.

December 2012- Apocalypse (possibly brought about by pissed off gamers)
