That was the same song that got me into Maximum the Hormone, although my favourite MTH song is probably Zetsubou Billy.

I've got two pretty good examples...
The guitar hooked me the instant it kicked in, and the vocals just seemed to fit right in with everything about the song. I've probably listened to it over 100 times by now.
I approve..
This was also the song that got me into In Flames, and I now have 115 songs by them..good stuff. :D

Now for me:

That should do for now..

Zetsubou Billy is awesome, but I think my favorite is Buiikikaesu.

The song that really got me into System of a Down was Chop Suey. It was the first time I'd ever heard them and it still remains one of my most favorite.
Sugar was my first System song, then Question, both awesome.

I hope they come back together soon,
if you heard anything of a reunion, PM me please :)

First time I heard Sunshine of your Love I realised that I did like music, I just didn't like modern music. It was a literally life changing experience.

Well, technically, the first Dream Theater song I heard was Octavarium, but it was on a mate's phone, so it wasn't good quality, and I didn't absorb any of it. Later, a mate of mine lent me Falling Into Infinity, which means that New Millennium was the first Dream Theater song I heard. I still like it.

Another first song that roped me in would be Run To The Hills by Iron Maiden. To this day, that song is just awesome.

Well, the first song I hear from a band does set how good/bad I expect the band to be, but it seldom remains my favourite song.

One exception is Pretty Fly for a White Guy by THe Offspring.

And Bleeding Mascara by Atreyu...

Ah, Buiikikaesu...I think I love that whole album. Buiikikaesu, What's Up People?!, Zetsubou Billy, Shimi, Akagi...all great songs.

The first song I heard of PAIN, which soon became my favorite band ever

And from there Peter Tagtgren's other band Hypocrisy, which I am not so enamored with.

The first song I heard by Atreyu was The Crimson and it's probably still my favourite. But that seems to be an exception, as I can't even remember the first song I heard by Nightwish, Slipknot, Korn, Disturbed, Billy Talent, Blue Oyster Cult and many more.

I got it from my friend, I don't know how he got it though, I never find MTH albums in stores.

First music I listened to was some Green Day. I don't like them that much. But later I started getting into Depeche Mode, and they're one of my favourite bands. But music didn't really kick in for me until I got into metal bands like In Flames and Children of Bodom. It opened my eyes more.
