Which music genres do you dislike and why?
For me it would be...
1) Country Music, it seems that everything I've heard so far is mainly about how great America is and how its sooo cool to be a red neck. I also just dislike their general style of singing.
2) Rap- Its just some no talents talking or shouting with background music, yes they can have some pretty good lyrics and catchy beats though.
3) Pop or anyone that uses auto tune! There is just no need for this to exist!
4) Screamo/Thrash/Death Metal- There just seems to be no form and I dislike getting headaches.

If you enjoy the music that I listed, feel free to discuss why and maybe change my mind.

I can tolerate all genres of music. Genre isn't important to me, the song in question is.

Rap is my least favorite overall though.

Rap, Country... Yea, that's most of it. I can stand most other genres.

So, like many people in the world, you don't like some genres of music. What are we supposed to conclude from this? What is the purpose of this thread, except to say "I don't like [stuff]"?

I can't stand most modern pop, there are some exceptions, but in general its all mindless dribble to me.

Since all I listen to is techno, I'll just list genres of techno I can't stand:
1) Eurobeat (like Captain Jack, Toybox, etc.) The melodies of most of the songs just turn me off
2) Trance (mostly just Basshunter) Pretty much same reason as Eurobeat but added that they like to make the melodies really high pitched to the point they're annoying
3) Gabber - There's some gabber I like but it all sounds extremely simple

Country
Screamo
Some of the more hardcore metal genres (Basically anything that involves people growling at me.)

Rap isn't really something I see as a genre of music, I look at it as more of poetry than anything.

Well poetry when it's not about sticking the rapper's gigantic dick-gun into hos made out of drugs.

Things I loathe: Country music (with the exception of Bluegrass), Rap/Hip-Hop (though I find Nerdcore hilarious), Ska (because it's Ska, you don't really need more reasons), Indie-rock (the sort that people who "listen to indie-rock" exclusively all seem to enjoy anyways), and 98% of everything else I haven't mentioned.

That last part is only slight exaggeration.

Hm....

Modern pop (exclusive of Lady Gaga), Rap (ALMOST exclusive of Scribe), Screamo, Noisecore, and when metal bands think they're the best.

Lots of hate for country around here, is it really THAT bad?

90% of all pop and rap music annoys me. Also, people doing awful covers of great songs.

The purpose of this thread is to discuss music you don't like. Is this bad? Did I offend you? Like many other threads here, there is no conclusion, just interesting discussions with others.

Country and Polka.

Country because it, as a genre, is dependent on and defined by musical concepts that are, in any other context, considered bad musicianship.

Polka because it's just freaking irritating.

Besides that, I like pretty much anything.

I tolerate/try to enjoy most music, but I do have a disrespect for many of the pop artists out right now.

I can enjoy any genre of music. The biggest catch is that it needs to be performed properly, and to have some artistic merit and skill involved. Done well, country music can make grown men weep. With the right lyrics and backing track, rap can make you laugh and make you think at the same time. Even pop songs can be decent mood-lifters, particularly if they don't take themselves too seriously. Time and place are important - I wouldn't listen to drum and bass at home to relax, but it's great when you're at a live gig and you're physically feeling the beats reverberating through your chest.

Advances in technology and the imperative to make as much money as possible have resulted in a lot more music being produced by a lot more people, but without maintaining the general level of quality. This is the reason why I dislike a lot of so-called "R&B" (real R&B is rhythm and blues), rap, hip-hop and pop music - not because the genre has no merit, but because so much of it is mass-produced no-talent garbage that I wouldn't buy at gunpoint.

IMHO, any song that's actually about the singer/speaker is almost guaranteed to be as enjoyable and musically competent as a bout of explosive diarrhoea.

Most rap/hip-hop... there's a little I will tolerate.
Emo, 'nuff said about that.
Modern pop. No originality.

Pretty much just metal. I don't like most pop-country these days, but I love a ton of the old country and newer more bluegrassy country. I don't like a lot of the southern rap, but can't say I don't like rap in general (Mos Def, Jay-Z, and - if I'm feeling old school - A Tribe Called Quest). I hate metal in every form I've heard it so far, from Black Sabbath to Metallica to Between the Buried and Me to Sun O))) to Cannibal Corpse to the others I can't remember.
