Depends on what you like. Action and awesome characters or a bland storyline with nothing but sterotypical monotoned voice actors.
I agree, Dragons Age is totally the way to-

Modern Warfare 2 is shorter by ages but it's actually fun.
Whajahuh?

Now, me, cause I'm an idiot with too much money on his hands, got both games and I have to say...I'd really rather I waited till MW2 was 40 dollars cheaper before buying it.

Also, anyone who says that Dragons Age requires no skill either is a moron or is playing on the X-Box, cause in the PC version, if you do not think and plan tactically for almost every single battle, you will get your ass handed too you.

Was wondering what should be my next purchase? Modern Warfare 2 or Dragon Age: Origins
Just finished Demon's Souls and Dragon Age was looking like my next purchase until the ZP review.
Thats an incredibly positive review by yahtzee standards, i mean he riticises the game itself very few times and more takes a stab at the genre itself.

Argh, I just bought Assassins Creed 2 and Borderlands, but my copy of Dragon Age is barely a week old. Choosing which to play is a pain in the ass.

Oh, MW2? Looks pretty good, but I'm probably going to wait till Christmas.

Since the MW2 storyline is ridiculously, comically short, go for DAO.

Seriously, 5 hours of story in a modern game? if it weren't for the ending I would've assumed IW had forgotten to finish the game.

Dragon Age is the best RPG in years (since BG2, even).
MW2 isn't even really better than MW1.
Mw2 improved on everything that made MW1 epic.
Also. No RPG can come close to Morrowind.
What, like the PC multiplayer? No. The story? No, it's gone bonkers instead of being realistic. The gameplay? No, the stupid strawberry jam damage is really annoying. The perks are better, but in many other ways it's either formulaic and similar or worse.
Realistic? You though Mw1 was realistic?
Also he hasnt specified wether he want its on PC or not. If he is talking about PC then Yes Dragon Age. But for consoles Mw2.
Oh, MW1 is 100% realistic compared to the plotholes and bizzare shit in MW2.

Well Yahtzee is a critic, and as such he's pointing out the bad things about a game. All games have their bad points, and most of Yahtzee's critisism seems to go towards the genre as a whole. And DA:O is the best Bioware RPG I've played so far, so if you played KoTOR, Mass Effect, those and enjoyed them get Dragon Age. If you don't want to play an RPG from the masters of dialouge then get MW2

I was in the store yesterday facing the same dilemma. Ended up choosing MW2 because practically my entire class and most of my gaming friends have got the game so I'm bound to enjoy at least the multi player. The single player's great too, though I'm not that far into it yet.

Do what I did: stop thinking about it, go to the store and buy the game that appeals to you most at that moment (for whatever reason). Then put the other one on your Christmas wish list! :p

OP: If you want a deep, enthralling story in a fantasy landscape filled with fights that truely make you feel like a badass, go with DA:O

If you're looking for a frantic, fast paced shooter with a strong multiplayer community complete with guns and grenades and terrorism, hit up MW2.
Pretty much this, both games can barely be compared to each other, they're not even the same genre.

The "Bizzare Shit" in Mw2 is easily understandable if you actually use your brain.
The story is still told véry messy, some missions having barely anything to do with the actual story. A game like MW2 doesn't need an uber complicated story. I really liked MW1's story, it's simple, it's sleak, it's to-the-point. MW2's story however, can almost be called pretentious. It wants to be too much, but it ends up being a Micheal Bay-esque action fest. Now don't get me wrong, I like action fests every now and then, but if you try to squeeze such a pretentious story in it, it kinda becomes a bit sour to me.

I have bought both and have not found time to sleep or shower since then. Both are awesome games. You need to ask yourself if you enjoy online multiplayer. That will be the decider.

O really?

Take for example
the russian invasion of the US. Why do they do that? Because they think the US was resposible for the airport terrorist attack. Even setting aside the stupidity of the idea that russia would launch a full scale attack on the US (lol), it's stupid that they would think the US was responsible.

Marakov is a well known terrorist according to the game, and when he runs around in an airport shooting people in front of witnesses and security cameras, somehow the Russians are unable to see the blindly obvious and conclude that Marakov is behind the attack. No, they think it's an American terrorist attack because Marakov shoots the American undercover agent and leaves his body there for the Russians to find. How do the russian know the guys body is an american? What, does the undercover guy have his drivers licence in his pocket or something? How the hell do they not just realize it's Marakov?

I got Dragon Age and don't regret it, I've played the damn thing for around 40 hours so far and I think I might just have hit the halfway point, though with the amount of twists and sudden suprises in the story it could be much longer.

I intend to but MW2 at a later date or i.e when so many of my friends have got it I'll be forced to get it.

Or another example
why does Shepard turn traitor? OK, he gains power when Russia invades; he's named supreme commander after the invasion. But how does he know that will happen? He'd have to know the Russians would conclude that Americans were behind the invasion (which makes no sense), know that the Russians would then invade America (which also makes little sense), know that he'd be named commander over anyone else, and know that the Americans would defeat the Russians (which is a huge risk) because otherwise it's pretty bad for him. That plan is a house of bloody cards! It's such a ridiculous motivation and plan for a villian.

Calling Dragon Age a carbon copy of every other Fantasy game simply means that the person playing it skipped through all the dialogue and ignored all the characters. Or has an IQ of a goldfish.

That being said, I can't see how someone would have problems picking one or the other. The games are so different that it's absurd.

Basically, it comes down to this: Do you want multiplayer? If you are one of the people who live for multiplayer, go with MW2. For singleplayer Dragon Age is a far superior product offering better story, better characters, and a LOT more playtime (I've clocked over 100 hours in the game and I'm still playing)...

Dragon Age definitely, I don't see any comparison between the two.
Both offer the chance to slaughter some innocent civilians?

And you are questioning your purchase on the ZP review? The one where he said he was 25 hours in and wanted to see more? That review?
Yeah, as yahtzee goes that was a freakin' recommendation.

That's just Morrowind-fanboy-talk. It was awesome but it had alot of flaws. my opinion.
So does Dragon Age.
The important thing is while Morrowind is epic, so is Dragon Age.
True, I wasn't attacking your opinion though, meaning I don't think Dragon Age is the best RPG ever, not by a long shot. I think the older ones like BG, fallout 1&2, arcanum, are fighting for No.1. But to each their own.

One is a marvelous piece with a great story, huge replay value, excellent music, and awesome cutscenes. The other is Modern Warfare 2.

The choice is obvious.

That plan is a house of bloody cards! It's such a ridiculous motivation and plan for a villian.
PvT Allen (The person you play as during No Russian) as a Undercover CIA op, Makarov killed him because Sheppard tipped him off that Allen was undercover. They then found out it was an American who commited the mass murder so they invaded (Cmon, youd know those damn Ruskies would invade if something like that happened). Because Sheppard lost 30k men in Cod4, and he was pissed because no one did anything about it. So he staged the whole thing as a big recruitment drive. He was a famed General thats why he was appointed Surpreme Commander and was given a blank check to take own Makarov. He killed Ghost and Roach because they had evidence that linked him to Makarov.
See? Simple.
Lol, did you even read or understand what I wrote?

Why do the russians not instantly realize Marakov was behind the airport attack considering Marakov is a well known terrorist and he shot up an airport in front of hundreds of people and dozens of security cameras? Why don't the Russians recognize Marakov, the famous terrorist?

How do they know Allen is American? He's an undercover, so he doesn't have any american ID, he's dead so they can't interrogate him. Why do they instantly recognize the undercover nobody and yet completely fail to recognize the not-disguised-in-any way famous russian terrorist Marakov?

How does Shepard's plan make any sense? Did he set out at the start of the game and think, "I know, I want power so I'll set up Allen with Marakov, he'll do a terrorist attack for me, the Russians will conclude Americans did the attack, the Russians will invade the US and I'll be made supreme commander in the wake of the invasion. Outside of the fact that marakov might not cooperate with my brilliant plan, the Russians might recognize marakov, the russians might not invade, the US might be defeated, someone else might be made commander, my betrayal might be discovered or the fact that this whole thing might just cause nuclear war, this plan is foolproof!". What the hell kind of stupid shit is that?

Additionally,
Why does shepard kill ghost and roach? Sure they got marakov's files which would reveal Shepard was a traitor, but they didn't have a chance to look through the files and were just about to hand them right over to Shepard when he shot them. Why didn't shepard just take the damn files and delete the incriminating ones later? Instead he kills them in front of other soldiers? Lol, that's not going to be incriminating.
