OP: If you want a deep, enthralling story in a fantasy landscape filled with fights that truely make you feel like a badass, go with DA:O

If you're looking for a frantic, fast paced shooter with a strong multiplayer community complete with guns and grenades and terrorism, hit up MW2.

Both are fun games, so it's a matter of what YOU feel like playing. Please, please don't take all your cues from Mr. Yahtzee. While amusing, he has a nasty habit of exagerating every little problem.

If you play an evil prick, you party members turn on you, innocent civilians sometimes get caught in the crossfire during fights (making fireballs quite a large source of entertainment), and you can make deals with demons. What's not to like?

Where is the fun in that when you can scare off protesters who are complaining about price gouging and let them starve and die. Or mock a little girl who lost her mommy? Now that is good evil fun. (Yeah I haven't made it very far yet even though I have invested a good 20 hours into it)

Dragon Age is the best RPG in years (since BG2, even).
MW2 isn't even really better than MW1.

Mw2 improved on everything that made MW1 epic.
Also. No RPG can come close to Morrowind.

What, like the PC multiplayer? No. The story? No, it's gone bonkers instead of being realistic. The gameplay? No, the stupid strawberry jam damage is really annoying. The perks are better, but in many other ways it's either formulaic and similar or worse.

If you want a single player experience, get the RPG. If you want the multiplayer experience, get the shooter. This formula hasn't changed in 10+ years. Next case please.

MW 2 has a sweeet campaign, and revolves around the skill of the player rather than bullshit stat building. In my opinion it's better in the case of characters, story, single player gameplay AND multiplayer gameplay.

Buuuuut Dragonage has atmosphere I'll admit but it's the same as all the other generic fantasy RPG games

The campaign was fun but its more like an added bonus to the multiplayer experience. I beat it in 3-4 hours. And I think the story and characters of MW2 are way over-hyped. They story lacked cohesion and was full of plot holes. Even in the case of a "what if" scenario, it is implausible and leaves too many unanswered questions (IW often forgets that the story is in the small details). The characters were nothing special either, they had decent voice actors with funny accents. MW2 is very fun, don't get me wrong, but I would never buy it for the single player experience and thus still fits my original formula.

Ya DA:O if you are into crazy long story and MW2 if you live for MP. I have both and if I had to choose one I would probably pick DA. Ya I mean the only thing bad ZP had to say about DA was that it was stereotypical fantasy with elves and shit. He never really mentioned the gameplay because it is soooo good.

I haven't played MW2 but I can safely say dragon Age is definitely worth it. The story so far is amazing. If you liked Knights of the Old Republic or Neverwinter Nights you'll like Dragon Age. I don't why you thought Yahtzee didn't like it he said he's still playing it after 25 hours. It really is that addictive. Oh yeah and unlike MW2, DA:O will allow mods.

I didn't actually watch that review yet, I've played the game. You people on this site need to stop treating Yahtzee like an omniscient executive on games.

Agreed, he is not the end all decision maker on what games are good and what games are bad. He is, however, very good at pointing certain things to consider when you are thinking about purchasing a game. So lets just leave it at that and not turn this into a Yahtzee fight.

Anyway, getting back to the main topic at hand, I guess it mainly depends what you like doing more on you Saturday nights. Do you either want to be running around different maps with other people trying to kill other players/complete objectives or do you want to play a really good RPG?

Unfortunately I am facing the same dilemma, and what is worse yet is that I have two games that each fill one of those categories, so my previous buying strategy of "fill the genres" can't work.

OT: pretty much if you want something with a short single player but plenty of multi then MW2 if you want a long single player story then DA:O. Both great depending on your mood...which falls right back to making your own decision not whether or not the public gives you a yeah or nay.

Yes, there is. The game seems like a weird amalgam of LoTR, Warhammer and the Witcher. What it borrows from the Witcher is the very modern shades of grey outlook. There quite often is no "good" option, only a choice between several bad ones.

Sure it has elves, dwarves and dragons. It also presents them in a far more realistic and interesting way than you would expect from Mr. Crowshaw's rant (I usually agree with the man, but he got this one very, very wrong) or what you would expect from other works in a high fantasy setting. Racism, rape, murder, genocide, avarice, betrayal, regicide, underhanded politcs, its a very dark game. The writing is excellent, head and shoulders above Bioware's very high standards.

Dragon Age all the way, for me.
