My monitor keeps dimming

Right off the bat I'm using a desktop, so its not energy settings. (Which is why trying to google this problem has solved nothing) My monitor darkens when what is being displayed is dark and brightens when whats being displayed is bright. For example, I'm playing a game, and I walk into a dark room, my screen darkens further making the room impossible to see, or even when I was watching a video, when I move my mouse and the interface appears the entire screen gets noticeably brighter. Can someone tell me how to disable this? Its VERY annoying.

Your internal battery is probably starting to fail. Can't hold a proper charge any longer. If thats the case, it might be time to replace it.

This happened to me to, I forgot how I fixed it, but I think its on the monitor and not on the computer itself. Do you know how to edit the video settings on the monitor.

If it ain't fixed, buy a new monitor. And a good one.

Normally it's a problem with your monitor settings. Of course it could also be hardware related.

Might be the lights for your PC. maybe its always a way your PC is to save power when its on its last leg. how old is it?

CRT or LCD? Discrete GPU or integrated. First thing I'd reccomend is borrow another monitor or plug your monitor into another PC (Laptop would work too). See if anything changes.

My computer is only 3 years old. The monitor is an LG Flatron W2600H. I've looked through the monitor menu (the one you get from the buttons on the monitor itself) and couldn't find a solution.
