My Portal 2 Theories

Statistics show that if you are an organic life form on this planet, you must know about Portal's new ending. If not, and this means you must be living on the far side of Callisto, here it is: (skip to 0:56)

As you can see, Chell is dragged off without any closure whatsoever. But I still have a few theories.

1. Chell is "The Rat Man."

The Rat Man was the person who came through the Aperture Science enrichment Center before Chell. But how do we know "he" isn't a "she?" It's probably not a coincidence that Chell just so happened to stumble upon the graffiti in the labs, and that these predictions about the cake being a lie came true. GLaDOS also stated that she had Chell's brain scanned, in case something bad were to happen to her. So perhaps Chell is a clone?
Cleared up by Hubilub and recognized stupidness on my part.

2. GLaDOS survived because you only destroyed a part of her.

GLaDOS is defeated at the end of Portal, but the credits song "Still Alive," sung by GLaDOS herself, is stating that she ha s suriuved. But how? First, the explosion seemed pretty contained. Yes, it caused GLaDOS to be ripped apart, but other that that, there was no real damage to the complex. Also, she still somehow sends a bot out to retrieve you. How else could she have done it other than simply not being dead, only mostly dead? Yes, I suppose we all knew that.

3. Portal 2 will be set in the aftermath of the Combine Invasion's ending.

The new update has strange sounds emiting from radios when you hold them in certain parts of each level. I saw from the news on this site that these noises are meant to be translated into images, and while I have not translated them yet [They make several images relating to Portal 2, such as the two Co-op Bots and the new Chell], it could possibly be meant as a transmission from a Rebel. Or maybe it's coming from the lab itself? Also, if you throw the radio through the end-level dissolver field, you hear a series of loud screeches and what could be gunshots. Early on in the noises, you hear what migh be the scrambled voice of the Combine Overwatch. So this could mean that while you are underground, the war could still be raging on in a different part of the planet. And since the second game will take place hundreds of years afterwards, there won't be any Gordon-Chell Rule 34 for you crossover fetishers. It could simply be unrelated to the plot and just a thingamabob for the ARG.

4. This was a triumph.

I'm making a note here, "huge success."

It's hard to overstate my satisfaction...

Discussion value: What did you think of these theories? Do you have any? Did I miss any evidence?

EDIT: I get it, I screwed up a bit. No, a lot. These were just some crackpot theories on my part and not meant to be hailed the prophecies of God.

The Rat Man

Why even question that?

Everyone knew that long before Portal 2 was even announced. That was the whole point with the song at the end. Not really a Portal 2 theory.

Recommendation: Translate the sounds or find someone who has before you start speculating about them.

No. It was not.

Here are my theories:

It will be over-hyped.

It will not be as good as the first.

It will give birth to even more internet memes.

But "Man" could be a fallacy, right?

Wait, no. "Doug Rattman." Right. *Nervous laughter*

I'd say it'd be wise to give Valve the benifit of the doubt here, given their track record with sequels. Besides, look at what happened in a very similar situation, when they turned a small budget game that originated as a mod (team fortress classic), gave the dev team more resources and greatly expanded it and you have one of , and in my opinion the greatest online shooters around. (tf2)

So yeah hopes are high here. *twiddles thumbs*

I think Portal 2 will be good but i won't have as much of the lasting impact as the first one did mainly due to the fact that at the time Portal was a very new experience from a different part of the Half-Life universe. Also that song just kicked so much ass it will be very hard to top it in the new installment
