My PS3 sounds fine 1/2 the time. When characters are speaking though, they often sound very quiet. I'm old, but I don't think it is my ears!

Any settings you would advise? I have it on a 2.1 system. I can put in white/red rca if necessary, but have HDMI out to the TV. The TV then sends audio to the 2.1 system over Fiber.

It had this issue on a different 5.1 system with fiber going straight from PS3 to Yamaha receiver.

Your advice is appreciated.

Is it every game, or just a particular few?

I'm not sure how this sort of stuff works but it could be that either the games are just done badly or that the separate audio channels for the voices are buggered.

From my experience, the PS3 gets the short end of the stick when it comes to audio. Between desync, ludicrous volume imbalances, and other crap, I honestly kind of think developers just don't like programming audio for the PS3.

It might also be that my sound system is just weird, but I have no idea. Sorry about the lack of help.
