My PS4 is dying, recommend me some Switch games?

About maybe 30 minutes after restarting a save file for NFS Heat, my PS4 made some horrifying screeching sound. After turning it off and on again, every time I started the game it'd make this noise. If you want an idea of what it sounds like, just picture the screams of Lavos, except a bit higher pitched and a little less warbly. After taking apart the top and bottom case, I found the system was also getting REALLY hot. Like, uncomfortably hot. The noise wasn't coming from the fan or hard drive, and the game was digitally downloaded so the disc drive wasn't to blame. After some teardown digging, it sounds like the power supply is likely the culprit. So now I have the fun choice to decide if I wanna get someone repair this thing, buy as new PS4 Pro, or wait and buy a PS5 whenever I can find one. Buh, great.

For now, I'm limited to my Switch for any modern titles, so I'm looking for recommendations. I've already looked into all the classic choices (1st party stuff like the Marios, Zeldas, Kirby, and Pokemon... basically any game you find on most people's top 10 to top 30 lists). I'm looking for a sort of diamond in the rough, something that some folk haven't heard of or doesn't get the attention it deserves. For genres, it'd be easier to say what I don't like... which are sports, FPS, tactics, puzzle, education, or indie games where the novelty is whaaaaaaaaaacky physics that are oh-so-silly and random (in other words, infuriating to play). Here's a list of my Switch games as well.

Animal Crossing New Horizons
Astebreed
Astral Chain
Daemon X Machina
Dead Cells
Downwell
Fast RMX
Ikaruga
Jet Lancer
Metroid Dread
Monster Hunter Rise
New Pokemon Snap
Rune Factory 4 & 5
Stardew Valley
Starlink
Super Smash Bros Ultimate
Tales of Vesperia
TLoZ Breath of the Wild
The Wonderful 10
Thumper
Transistor
Xenoblade Chronicles 1 & 2

Hope that narrows it down somewhat!

Could you be more specific on what you mean when you say you don't like puzzle games?
Ok, lemme elaborate on it slightly... I adore Tetris and Meteos, and Bejeweled and Puzzle Bobble are fun too. But stuff like Picross, brain puzzle games like Sudoku and games like it, Baba Is You, Portal, puzzle platformers like Braid and Oddworld, and etc etc... don't quite do it for me

Think of it as being like the Atelier series but whereas Atelier is a feast, this is a straightforward meal. It's not as in depth or long as those but I think that might be part of its appeal if you're not wanting to get into a long and complex crafting game.

Corpse Party
Classic horror game. Still holds up from a horror perspective, though I do suggest using a guide if you're not the type to poke around at things.

Voice of Cards series
If you just want some simpler, lighthearted RPG games with a lot of flavor in presentation then give these a go.

Everhood
A flavorful anti-rhythm game with a SNES artstyle. Good music, artwork and style.

Death's Door
Isometric (But not grid based) adventure game. Also has great music, atmosphere and decent gameplay.

NEO: The World Ends With You
Sequel to the DS game from long ago. It's very notable as being a good game despite there being so much time between titles and having to change the gameplay, but I feel it succeeded in conveying the same feeling from the original in regards to combat. Also has great music and art.

Astral Chain
A good action game. Also looks cool and while I feel the plot leaves loose ends, it's very fun and I like the police officer aspect of it even if I also feel they could go further with it. It's visually very impressive given that it's a third party Switch game.

Minit
A top down Zelda-esque game where you've picked up a sword that makes it so you die at the end of sixty seconds. Try to figure out what's going on and use the things you collect and knowledge you gain to keep getting further after every death.

Blaster Master Zero series
Good games that wed the Japanese and English lore of the series together and translates the original's gameplay into the modern landscape (Blech, I sound like a shill with this terminology). I would say 2 is the height of the series.

Princess Farmer, newly released match 3 sort of deal.

Kamiko is great. Short, but only $5 so...

Fuga, Memories of Steel has a batch of orphans take over an ancient superweapon to save their kidnapped parents

Gnosia might wind too much into puzzle game territory, but it's basically a miracle combination of single player One Night Werewolf and and actual, honest to god story. Gorgeous too, with fantastic characters.

I just started another playthrough of Hades on my Switch, so I would recommend that. Supergiant just make great games. I see that you already have Transistor, so I would also recommend Pyre, which is an underrated gem, IMO. I would probably shy away from Bastion, though; It is a modern classic, but it is starting to show its age.

Otherwise, im not sure what you mean by your dislike of "tactics" games, so im not sure if this is skirting the line at all, but Into the Breach is another great indie game that I have gotten a lot of mileage out of, recently.

Imagine if you took the first season of the Digimon anime, with its characters and tone, and then injected 999 into it. I think this game is perfect for older children and young teens but I also had fun with it and it has a lot of charm.

Astalon: Tears of the Earth
A very good old school looking Metrovania style game that looks a lot like Castlevania 3. This is a very good game, good music and gameplay and manages to feel oldschool without a lot of the annoying old school problems.

Megaman Zero/ZX Legacy Collection
It's just a pile of six great 2D action games from the GBA and DS.

Wuppo
A very unique 2D (?)shooter(?)/Paper Mario-like game. I know that description sounds weird but I think it's accurate.

Kero Blaster
From the legend that made Cave Story. It certainly feels similar to Cave Story with its gameplay elements but it's a much more straightforward 2D shooter compared to Cave Story and is fun and challenging.

Letter Quest
Spell out words to deal damage to enemies and get to the end to of the game so you can get your pizza. Very fun game to play while idling or you don't want to do a lot of complex strategizing.

Little Nightmares series
Good creepy diorama like platform games. The first game has a feel like Spirited Away, while the second game has a feel like Dark City.

Dragon Marked For Death
Good 2D action/side scrolling game with multiple character classes you can play as. My personal favorite is playing DDR with the Witch.

Evoland Legendary Edition.
The first game is a lighthearted meme kind of game that's fun for references but some people can get annoyed with it. The second game though, is a real throwback to classic SNES RPG/Action RPG games and is pretty dang good with its time travel plot.

Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight
A Metrovania with a lot of Dark Souls inspiration. Has really good art, music and tone and can be a fair challenge.

Azure Striker Gunvolt: Striker Pack
A collection of the two Gunvolt games from the 3DS. Very good action side-scrolling games. If you liked the Megaman Zero games then this, while not a hack and slash, is right up your alley with its style and gameplay.

Inmost
A moody, creepy, exploration, adventure game. It has a very strong atmosphere and I quite liked the story with its dark and somber elements. It's a puzzle platformer but it's not a twitch reflexes type or one that's punishing.

Alwa's Legacy
A good Metrovania. Not going to wow you with anything too outside the box, but it certainly does what a Metrovania should very well. It's technically a sequel to Alwa's Awakening but you don't have to have played that.

Unreal Life
Somewhat hesitant to suggest this as I still haven't finished it due to not knowing how to get past a puzzle but it has good art and tone. It's an adventure game about a girl who's lost her memories and is being aided by a traffic light to figure out what happened.

The Alliance Alive HD Remastered
A good RPG that feels like open world RPGs of the SNES era. It's the one game that really made me feel like I was getting the whole world to work together to save it. Has fun characters and interesting combat but it doesn't go too far out there that you'll feel overwhelmed with complexity.

Crown Trick
Kind of a roguelike, but it has a clear plot progression and isn't about going into one dungeon over and over again. It's grid based with a lot of different elements and weapons to play with. I think you'll find it fun and it really is about completing the game rather than having good runs like most roguelikes. The writing doesn't always hit but it's nothing terrible.

I do have Hades on my comp to play, but I never did finish Pyre. It didn't really grip me well enough to go back to it after I took a short break from playing. I dunno why... but the world, storytelling, and gameplay didn't quite do it for me compared to Transistor. I do look forward to playing Hades once I'm in the mood, though
