HAHAHA no more will the PS3 owners state the Red ring of death as why their system is better than the holy Xbox of Modern Warfare! Now to find a counter to the jerks of God of War 3...

Umm, modern warfare is on all consoles, aside form the Wii, and besides, to have something this big happen and it be fixed with roughly 24 hours, I'd say Sony handled this a lot better than MS handles RRoD

P.S. its been fixed guys, or well, mine and my friends were fixed.

No worries, it's all back up now. I've been playing Uncharted 2 for the last hour or so, no issues whatsoever.

If you don't want to believe me, believe this: http://blog.us.playstation.com/2010/03/playstation-network-service-restored/

Oh sorry idiot moment, I meant Halo. While yes it will be fixed quickly its still a good example of the PS3's imperfection despite everyones claims.

So is the Xbox one? And is this just the beginning of the play stations crumbling?
(I own neither, but I deeply hate Play Station because I bought 2 Play Station2's after the first died due to overheating(A problem I have never ever had with anything else, but apparently the inside slowly melted to disuse) and the second after much love then died because of Play Station not realizing when they made it able to play DVDs that people would use it for that.(The laser died or something? Thats Play Stations fault.) The Xbox never overheated when put in the exact spot and ran day and night, the Wii cannot be judged because after Brawl and the Topspin 3 game that was worse than the Wii Sports one I decided to let it rot.

Why does the PS3 have a system date of January 1, 2000, anyway? Is it capable of time travel, now, too?
Well it only does everything.

Anyway, sarcasm aside I think this is both a glass-house situation for all the self-righteous PS3 fanboys who rode the RROD problem into the ground, and a possible PR nightmare for Sony. I say possible because it seems that if it was even effecting debug models of PS3s then it wasn't something they knew or considered might happen, and who would really? Nobody expected the Y2K bug to just sit there, waiting for a decade before unleashing itself onto one device after all.
Yeah. It's like it has a vendetta against Sony... :)

(I know you're joking, but) Yes, because a one time software foul up that was fixed in 24 hours compares to a five year long issue that seems to never be fully fixed and leaves your xbox out of your hands for 2 weeks minimum.

But yeah, it's over. I have a ps3 launch console and everything is up and running.

Thank God I managed to unhook myself two nights ago from MW2 and do a little studying. I am unaffected. Just booted up my machinery and I am still intact, in both saves and trophies. Can we play online if we are not affected or would it be best if we didn't take a risk?

I don't even own one and I'm mad about this...seriously, a simple mistake like that shouldn't happen in this day and age....Sony is probably going to be sued at one point or another for this, we wouldn't put up with this kind of stupid crap in past gaming consoles, and we seem to be getting stupid crap like this all the time with the current gen consoles. All the people that own Xbox 360s that nuke themselves and PS3s that don't work because of a simple stupid problem deserve better.

Crap. I booted mine up, and lost all my Uncharted 2 trophies.

Here's hoping it's not too hard to patch... >.<
This makes me glad I've been too engrossed playing Kameo on 360 all week.
I'm not firing my Playstation up til this shit blows over.

Technically, Sony didn't do anything. The problem fixed itself. So there isn't really anything to compare (in terms of how the companies handle major problems).
Sony had a software problem that was remedied by itself.
Microsoft had a hardware problem that requires actual work on the unit.

I'm actually not surprised it happened at all.
I think these companies count on the fact that as consumers we'll continue to buy their product despite these issues.

I miss last generation, when consoles worked... (Thinks aboot how often all of his friends' PS2s broke.) I miss two generations ago... (Thinks aboot all the PS1s and Saturns that broke.) I miss three generations ago... (Is Nintendo the only company that makes sure their hardware works?)

No more justified RROD jokes: Hooray!
People being unhappy due to loss of favorite console: boo!
