See, now this is what happens when you buy a PS3.
It breaks.
Xbox's totally don't

Oh no I'm so sad right now.
...
I still want a PS3 though
Same here, Heavy Rain and God of War 3 are too good to pass up.

see... with all the wonderfull dependable goodness that new consoles offer, plus the ability to play anything you play for regardless of your online status, it's a wonder that people bother collecting old classic games... wait, what's that you say? New consoles break constantly? Downloaded games often don't work or have issues when you aren't online? You can only license them to that one console? Hmmm... maybe I should put down my PS3 controller and break out my NES then... Time for Rygar bitches!

I was talking to a friend about this today (IRL). He reckons that they made the virus so that all the older gen users have to buy the new slim. How's that for evil.

I really hope they fix it. Heavy Rain damn you.

I have a 'fat' 40GB ps3, and if not for the uproar on the intenet, i wouldnt have even known about the problems. It connected to the PSN just fine this afternoon.

This is right after the CEO or whoever at Sony was saying he was hoping 2008 was the worst it'd ever get for the console. Him and his big mouth.

damnit! First my computer craps out (I'm on my wife's laptop) now I can't touch my ps3. What the fuck am I going to have to dust off the wii to get my game on? Figures this would happen on my days off.
Your post so reminds me of 'Hitler gets banned from Xbox' on youtube.

Was playing LBP online all weekend with no errors, and I got the 160GB fat model, so I guess I lucked out.
Guess this the reward for not buying DLC, talk about irony :p

HAHAHA no more will the PS3 owners state the Red ring of death as why their system is better than the holy Xbox of Modern Warfare! Now to find a counter to the jerks of God of War 3...
Umm, modern warfare is on all consoles, aside form the Wii, and besides, to have something this big happen and it be fixed with roughly 24 hours, I'd say Sony handled this a lot better than MS handles RRoD

P.S. its been fixed guys, or well, mine and my friends were fixed.
Technically, Sony didn't do anything. The problem fixed itself. So there isn't really anything to compare (in terms of how the companies handle major problems).
Sony had a software problem that was remedied by itself.
Microsoft had a hardware problem that requires actual work on the unit.
How do you know it fixed itself? I'm not saying you're wrong, I'd just like to see the source.

I still wonder: did this happen to all fatboys, or just the backward compatible older ones?

My newer non BC did fine, but I only turned it on after the problem appeared to right itself.

Prepare for anti PS3 comments. Anyways, I got the slim, which I guess is lucky. Even though the fat version looks fucking sexy.
So you like it when baby's got back?
This made me lol. Nah, I just like the sleek and shiny of it.

Played LBP and DA:O all weekend, and even picked up a couple of new trophies. I've got an old... 60GB model, I think. Hm...

Wow. Maybe Sony pulled an Apple and sent a crippling update to fat ps3's to get their owners to buy a slim.

Good to see DRM still keeping its nose clean.

Maybe people will stop moaning about the red rings no that PS3 finally has a bug to call its own.
Pretty sure most of my friends will keep moaning since you can't patch a critical hardware failure.

Then Fallout 3 is the way to go, preferably running (figuratively speaking of course) towards the "Signing In" part to stop it.
