Damn it. I had this problem last night, ended up losing my Dragon Age downloads, as well as my Valkyria Chronicles downloads, oddly enough. And what sucks most is I don't give a rat's ass about trophies.

Why does the PS3 have a system date of January 1, 2000, anyway? Is it capable of time travel, now, too?

New update on the ps3 twitter page, doesn't really say anything new other than it may take upto 24 hours to fix.

There isn't a single game I can play, I don't have any demos left because I deleted them for space, and games I've bought form PSN like Mega Man 9 aren't working.

We all know what this means... I can go and play some Fallout instead!

same as me!, also I has a slim now, my fat broke..the memories..I need a moment
Probably what pisses me off the most is that there is a possibility that all my AVP trophies are gone.

I spent so much time trying to beat the game on Nightmare, man!
game over man, game over

well lets hope for the best, and if not, at least you get to kill more marines

or aliens, or predators, or whatever...

Okay, how about this: according to one hypothesis on Kotaku, the problem is that the PS3s think that it's February 29, and that the problem will fix itself at midnight tonight. What do you think the odds are on that happening?
I've read that a few places and it sounds plausible(ish). But it must've been some silly programming error, one wonders how it was corrected for the slim but never patched on the fat. You'd imagine to fix something you'd have top find it first.

I've kept it unplugged for a few weeks, so hopefully my ancient 40GB isn't going to keel over and die now.

Of course, I also look at it this way... I've had my 60GB from the beginning and never had a problem with it (except the rare game-freeze). Years of reliability outweighs a problem less than 24 hours old.

So tat's what my friend's problem was.
I just got the 250Gig Slim, so I'm in the clear, but everyone else I know has Fats, they're probably royal boned right now. Snap.
... How the hell do you misprogram a calender anyway?

Well, that would explain why I lost a few hours after I got my PS3.
That might of because I passed out though.

"some users"? HA, serious contender for understatement of the decade there!
Yeah, I love how they state on their official page 'Only trust information from our official page on this bug; do not trust third party webpages!' and yet try to downplay this crap for PR reasons.

doesnt this affect every ps3 apart from the slim and some newer models.
Supposedly it affects all PS3 'fat' models. Mine's a 2nd generation 80Gb (non-b/c) with 250Gb HDD installed. No network.

Wait, how will they patch it through PSN updates if it won't connect? Will you have to go to a gamestop to get a free disk? Download a file onto a flashdrive?

If this is directly affected by the Trophy system, I say they just get rid of them.
For one they're completely worthless: in fact the only way it's affected my gaming experience is that I can't backup saves for certain games now.
Also, the ps3 has so many great potential features that are never used. Maybe they can stop enforcing trophies and start enforcing something we could appreciate; something useful, that could actually enrich the game experience. What about some of the things we were promised at launch.

Consoles really do seem to be becoming more and more like Pc's
Nah, PC's generally don't experience wide-spread f*ck-ups like this.

Seems like the problem is related to the internal calinder of the PS3. Is this like a mini Y2K?

The problem seems to be on their end of the connection, not the actual consoles themselves. So if they fix whatever is wrong on the PSN servers, it should be fine.
