You're not alone, I've loved the MK movie since I was a kid, even without the nostalgia goggles on. I just don't understand why it isn't better remembered, it's the only quality game movie I've seen yet, despite that it could be better, it made for a great flick. Has a terrific soundtrack too *goes to listen to it*Tom Phoenix said:Am I the only one who thought the 1995 Mortal Kombat movie wasn't bad? I am not saying it was particularly good and it certainly was cheesy as hell, but it had good production value and it did well at what it was intended to be, a decent action flick. The sequel, on the other hand, was horrible on all levels...
Anyway, this movie seems to essentially be a more realistic reboot of the original. I actually really like the trailer. That said, trailers sometimes tend to be quite misleading, so we need to wait to see how the actual movie pans out.
Regardless of how it turns out, however, I guess it is time once again for...

he did but i think it was because sub-zero killed his wife and son.Deofuta said:Woah, that was just. Woah.
However, Sub-Zero was my favorite character! I thought he was the hero for some reason, didnt Scorpion kill off his entire clan or something?
O wells.
Actually looking at it... you could be right... though I say this with much caution... as is could be a video game movie. The Helicopters at the beginning looked like an obvious CG effect and it did have that 'clean' sort of off look to it that you see in these type of video game promos (or the cutscenes in the need for speed games). However maybe they are doing that intentionally for the video game feel. Even if this is for a game... I'd still be happy, extremely happy... also it would make plenty of sense... I'm sure I read somewhere (maybe on here) that they were attempting to re-boot the series or do something new with it.CaptainCrunch said:Sure, MAYBE it's for a new MK movie. (I certainly wouldn't complain if it was.) Even for as good as the video is, something about it just seems so... not Hollywood. I'm seeing subtleties that major studios would get sued over.
A Hollywood studio won't forget about things like a company credit, even on a teaser. It's a matter of money and legality (mainly union stuff). It's generally less of a pain in the ass to give away a spoiler or two in the credits than deal with legal agreements from the hundreds of people involved in production.
My money is on a new game - development studios have pulled this kind of thing off before, even getting name-brand actors in some cases.
Edit: Also, the music at the beginning sounds a bit like the Resident Evil movie theme.
