In the comic that's been mentioned, Alix says that she got hired after Jack so yeah, she's just a shopper at this point and it's still a flashback (probably).

Actually, the gameshop I frequent had a sign up a couple months ago. Not a big store but loyal clientele. They're still processing the resumes as there are hundreds...
