So how far is the manga ahead of the anime?
Is there an estimate of how long the anime will keep going after the manga ends?
50 chapters as of right now with 5 more till it ends and the anime covers 2-3 chapters an episode so probably late March, early April next year for the anime ends just in time for the DVD release of the last film.

I haven't been all that interested in Naruto since about 50 eps into Shippuden, and I can't put my finger on why exactly that is.
Maybe it's because it seemed to lose the all-important (imo) sense of adventure and whimsy that makes Shonen fun to watch?
Maybe it's because around that point I discovered One Piece - a series that has adventure and whimsy in spades?

Whatever the reason, there is a definite positive to Naruto coming to a close - it's much easier to analyse a story once it's an actual complete work. One of Dragonball Z's best qualities (though I'm a much more fond of the original Dragonball) is that it has an ending.
No it's because the first 60 episodes of Naruto Shippuden were very poorly paced as they didn't want to get to filler again after just having 75 episodes of it at the end of Naruto. They changed there mind after complaints and arcs based of the manga from episode 72 onwards became much better at the cost of inbetween filler arcs that were terrible.

Oh thank God.

Now that poor shark can finally be released back into the wild after many years of being jumped over.

To those complaining about the length of the anime the manga which will be 72 volumes long at completion can be read in less time than it takes to watch the anime to the point that Naruto fights Gaara at the chuunin exams in part 1.

Yes the anime is that much larger than the manga.

Thank god for that!
Ok granted I did had a feeling it was going to end soon especially what was going on in the manga but I needed to be reassured by a official statement that it is going to end!
Ok sure there is no way they can top Mandara and that goddess for a new villain and I doubt the other nation want to giht against Naruto since it look like they all become peaceful to one another thanks to the war.

Either way I am pretty much expected another time skipped that Naruto does become Hokage at the end of it all.]

I kind of find it funny how One Piece is still ongoing given how Naruto and Bleach were new in that they came after One Piece but they are both ending now. Clearly One Piece are doing something right (yes it's not perfect but it still have a large fanbase)!

Thank God. I was starting to think the Naruto Sasuke fight will be another year. Knowing it is almost over is making me excited. The biggest issue I have had with Naruto recently is that it seems to be little story and a lot of action. I haven't been upset with the series as it has been kinda interesting.

Is Bleach still on their 20 year plan where Kubo said that the series was only about half over about 3 years ago?

Jesus christ! It's not as if they have any other random plot threads to string out at this point anyway, all the rifles loaded in the first few acts have been long since fired, and quite frankly I'm glad this is coming to an end...

Here's hoping that once Naruto finally ends they release a "Kai" version of the anime (like DB Kai) that cuts out most of the bullshit.

Even though I haven't followed the series since around 2008 or 2009, I am interested to see how it ends. It used to be such a big deal for me, and I still have lots of fond memories of the series, the earlier arcs in particular.

About damn time. I read it for years but around the time Naruto was being trained by one of the other tailed-beast dudes was training him in a cave or something (I think his name was like Killer Bee or something). The series just kept feeling like nonstop ramping-up of stakes and never had any payoff so I just quit.

Probably wont ever get around to finishing it, but its nice to know an end is finally in sight.

The fight with Madara just kept going, and everyone got DBZ proportioned powerups through the course of the battle.
Naruto is Jesus and he can fly.
I stop reading for a few months and THAT happens!
To be fair, at this point
everybody and their mom can fly. Kishi would have to asspull to hell and back to have him NOT fly for some reason.

Technically all three have been doing something right otherwise none of them would've lasted as long as they have. No matter how much people call all three of them crap (don't attack me for hating on One Piece) while DBZ may have originated many of the modern shounen tropes these three ran with them and did them well and different enough to last 400+ chapters and counting.

Heck I'll probably be the only one here that thinks Naruto is the best of the three with Bleach being the worst still. So I suppose that will discredit anything I possibly say on the subject.

Admittedly while this, Bleach, and One piece really got me into anime I'm really glad this crap is ending. What once was a manga about strategy and teamwork became a contest to see who can pull the biggest chakra fart, interesting side chararacters were sidelined in favor of Naruto Ninja Jesus and Sasuke Keep pulling excuses out of my ass( seriously what the hell happened to Sai). So yeah while I use to had fun with this series I'm glad its being put down

Oh yes, thank you oh great Enel (One Piece reference 4TW).

I was never big into Naruto, but watched it with my brothers so I just kept going with it. After we stopped watching together, I went to the Manga. I actually didn't mind most of the stuff to the beginning of the war. The last year or two of the series is what really got me tired of it. One villain after another, with it going on for two years straight, was bad. The pacing was awful, and I could not care about anything that happened. I was afraid with the recent events that it was going to stretch on for years, but thankfully not. This means this last part can be decent.

Miura's art just takes a long time. I'm as anxious for the story to continue as anyone but the creator deserves to have a life outside of his work.

Here's how Miura described his work schedule in response to a letter from fans in 2009, by which point the series had been going on about 20 years already.

Q8: Could you describe an average day in your studio? How many hours each day do you work?

I start working at 2:00 PM and I finish at 7:00 AM. Of course, the time I spend eating is included. I work 15-16 hours everyday, without holidays.

He's not getting any younger so of course he's had to slow down. It's a wonder that work schedule didn't already kill him. Here's hoping he stays healthy and we get to see the end of the series.

OT: So... Someone will die, someone will hook up, and someone seriously needs fucking therapy...

Yep... This is going to a be a very eventful 5 weeks...

(Also, the anime may or may not get [more] fillers to make it last more than 5 [more] years, I guess... The Naruto Train ain't ending when the manga ends, I tell you what!)

I'm happy one of the big three is finally ending, I've been saying bleach should have ended after the Aizen arc when Ichigo lost all his powers. And yeah i jumped ship when the war arc started as well... it just got too bad at that point. And i have only one thing to say about the Naruto x Sasuke thing is that Naruto was obsessed with Sasuke from the very first chapter....the reason for the obsession just changes later on lol.

It's about time! I liked the show when it first came out, but then I lost interest and moved on to other series. Good thing too, looks like Naruto seems to be spitballing downwards in terms of quality...
