I'm reserving my enthusiasm for when we earthlings become able to do the real thing.
As I'm sure Terry Pratchett would say, imagination is what takes us places. And the fact that this game is made by NASA makes that imagination clearly on the menu for a later plan... meaning that we are "able to do the real thing". It just takes time to gather the resources in the current economic climate, with the moon mission deferred until the US economy is booming again.

Assuming the US economy will ever boom again (and I can't see why you wouldn't at this stage), there is at least some reason to be excited for the real deal already.

That's actually pretty damn cool. Made all the cooler by the fact that it could (but probably won't) happen in the very near future.

Hmm, downloading now, we'll see how it is. Though this reminds me of another game that desperately needs to come out.

Ok, i've played. First impressions? Well, it's pretty and fun, though it definitely needs some expanding. If this is supposed to be a learning experience, then i have learned, that you can fix broken glass, plate steel, sensitive electronics and plastic with a single welding torch. And that it's normal for life support to leak coolant. Oh and also that radio waves don't travel beyond some 150m. Also, what is the purpose of the command center? It doesn't seem to have any useful function at this point.

I know, i know, concessions to playability, but still feels a bit lacking. I can only hope they are actively working on new content.

Actually there's already a bunch of Bases on the Moon Mars and elsewhere...

NASA is just a Cover... it's a shame really.

I'm so conflicted. One the one hand, it looks very cool. On the other hand, did they actually advertise 'a 3D environment' as one of their game's features? That's the equivalent of a DVD advertising 'interactive menus'. It actually makes me feel sorry for them.

That said, a six-player cooperative adventure game sounds like... something quite new. I might have to check it out.

Wow, more hefty system requirements than I thought. Shame really, I was hoping to play this on my netbook. Ah well, that's why I have the heavy brick...
I'm also somewhat conflicted about this. On the one hand, I'd want NASA to stop assing around with video games and get back to (manned) space exploration post haste, on the other hand, this is the sort of thing that makes me a happy nerd. Well, virtual moon is better than no moon...

Finally I've had planet exploring blue balls ever since Mass Effect 2 removed it, this is what made me get steam.
