You can get course credits from playing video games? I think that is what heaven is like.

Honestly, this looks pretty interesting. Hopefully it's a quality game because I just might consider playing it.

Holy shit, I'm up for this. I've been searching for something like this (An actual representation of space colonisation and such).

I'm tabbing this.

I expected more hot asian women, hot women in general, and more whipped cream in heaven. Erm, wait, too much information for you.

Yeah...that NASA game...yeah!...

This will be great until we realize that they aren't game programmers. I mean Americas Army sucks too, that's why I play insurgency now. However most of these people are scientists, mathematicians, and computer technicians so this may take off with proper funding, which isn't going to happen...

Growing up, one of the games I remember the most was "Earth Orbit Stations" for the Apple IIe. I didn't quite understand back then, but taking a second look at the game makes me wish someone made an updated version of it.

The plot of the game was "Make space profitable", you built space stations which generated money and research which lead to bigger and bigger projects like Lunar Mines and Orbital Space Colonies. There was a free market component also, but the math on it was rather simple.

The interface wasn't terribly forgiving if you didn't plan out your space stations in advance though.

Lol at the, 2001/2010 referances. ;p

That said I think I was commenting on hoping they would do something like this a while ago. Not let's just hope they can bring it into the classroom, and perhaps modify it down the road to frame various kinds of education in a format like this that will hopefully get kids more inspired than a droning teacher with a chalkboard.

If it offers credit, it must suck.

It'll be like: "Ok! You are flying the ship to Mars!!!"

"Now answer all these math problems, *****"

This sounds very cool. I was a total sucker for Microsofts Space Simulator and a Space Shuttle Sim that were released in the 90ies. Unfortunately noone ever continued along that line.

I think I heard about this ages ago, a year or so atleast. Also, for all of you who are interested in something similar, there's always Orbiter [http://orbit.medphys.ucl.ac.uk/], It's a free space flight simulator (realistic simulator, no arcade physics here), which has a pretty active community, and tons and tons of free addons which allow you to extend the simulator FAR beyond the rather bland, default ships.

I've been waiting for a game that tries to realistically integrate advanced mathematics into the gameplay.

Doing advanced math for fun...? Just... No... That's not even possible for me.
