In the first new "E32021" reveal week, we have the return of shooty shooty lootboxy bang bang game Battlefield's triumphant return with Battlefield 2042. So check it out if you like Battlefield games.

I will say Battlefield has always looked really good graphically and this is no exception. It looks really sick, but it's more of the same FPS blitzfest stuff we've seen. Though I suppose enough time has passed that BF fans will welcome the graphical improvements and new maps to fuck around on.

This tweet reveals more info.

Basically they are just doing a Call of Duty Warzone thing. So whatever.
Well, his interest might have dropped. He usually does not mind multiplayer, but he prefers to have a game that has both modes. Thank you for the info, and the AAA industry continue to learn nothing.

Unless they reveal more info about it on the 13th when they do a full gameplay demo or whatever the hell they're doing. But Fandom is a pretty reliable source for this kind of thing. And several key BF influences are also sharing this so unless it is a huge misunderstanding, i think EA is simply trying to get in on that Warzone money. 🤷

Battlefield was always the annoying little brother to CoD anyway IMO. But both series bounce off each other. One year CoD will copy BF, then BF will copy CoD, and round it goes.

Both franchises started almost around the same time. Call of Duty came first though and Battlefield came in 2 years later. Even so, Battlefield had already done enough to differentiate itself early on. The larger open maps, more players against each other; things of that nature. We played a couple of Call of Duty games, but we never really got hooked into Modern Warfare after the first one, nor the Black Ops spinoffs. With that said, my big bro is a bigger Battlefield fan than COD fan.

No campaign, huh?

I do hope the price of the game is worth it. If $60, I am expecting a fuck load of contents and not one of those"free contents post-launch". Otherwise, hoping for a $30-40 price tag. Then again, this is EA, so we might see $60 price tag regardless

I also noticed the last part of the trailer takes place somewhere in Korea? The neon sign in Korean falling down suggests that the map be part of Seoul, Busan, or other major Korean City. I am glad this is happening since other Asian cities have been acknowledged in gaming for god knows how long, and Korean cities have just begun to get recognition in games.

That trailer was pure cheese. I was waiting for one of the guys got splattered by the falling plane and was not disappointed. Though my favourite part was when the guy ejected from his plane, shot a helicopter out of the air with a rocket launcher before catching onto the side of his plane again and flying off. I'm almost tempted to buy this...

...Oh, no campaign mode? Nevermind then.

Im really shocked that some people are disappointed by the lack of a campaign. BF campaigns haven't been any good for about 10 years, so as far as I am concerned, nothing of value has been lost.

The caveat here though, is that so long as whatever effort was supposed to go into the campaign, is instead directed towards the multiplayer mode, the game is good in my book.

Which is why I am a little concerned by the map count at launch. They say that the maps are "huge", but it remains to be seen as to what that means, exactly. On the face of it, 7 is fairly unremarkable.

Im also curious as to what the game means by "specialists".

Otherwise, im glad the game is going back to a modern setting, because I haven't really enjoyed BF1 or BFV nearly as much as BF4, or any of the other modern BF games that I have played.

Im also a little put off by the game's inclusion of battle passes, because I just find them to be a really tiring progression mechanic.

Im not sure I'll consider getting this at launch, because BF games of late have been fairly ropey. We'll see what happens.

Is it me, or there hasn't been a simple mutliplayer FPS game in ages.

Everything has to be Battle-Royale or Pseudo-Battle Royale.

Wrong, Call of Duty came out in 2003

Battlefield 1942 came out in 2002

Okay then. Thank you for proving me wrong, but it only further proves the point that Battlefield came first. Besides, the late 90s and early to mid-2000s is where it was all about nearly everybody copying World War II shooters.

And before Battlefield there was Medal of Honor.

I was just about to ask about Medal of Honor, as I just sat there and thought to myself if I've ever played any CoD or Battlefield game....ever. And, yeah I think the only one I have played, is that WW 2 Medal of Honor that was riding the military coattails from Saving Private Ryan. I honestly think that's the only one that I've ever played.

Just about nearly every World War II shooter was riding the coattails of either Saving Private Ryan or Band Of Brothers.

Yeah but I just recall that one actually being published shortly after the film? And the opening game sequences were straight up the Normandy Beach scene, in video game form.

I am fine with having no campaign, but it's always an double edge sword.

There games like fall guys and minecraft where the multiplayer aspect can be enjoyed w/o asking too much question on why it's happening.

And then there are games like COD, BF, and Watch Dogs where the premise of the multiplayer comes from the singleplayer settings. I think that's why I hated Black Ops 4 so much because I had no idea what the game was about since there was no campaign; it felt more like "what would happen if x and y fight?" that comes from casual conversation, rather than a coherent reason on why these factions where battling.

Titanfall tried to do something different by having a campaign in a multiplayer mode, and we all know how that turned out; I tried following super close to NPCs talkiing, but couldn't understand why that guy (can't remember his name) had to sacrifice his life.

The point I want to make is, even weak campaigns can establish the basic context to the multiplayer settings. True, they aren't the best-written stories in most cases, but if I'm questioning why the US is fighting the Russians or the terrorist group, then I feel I won't be enjoying the multiplayer.

As I've said in my other post; I do hope the price of the game is worth $60. Fill it up with contents and give us the replay value.

Then again, this is still EA we're talking about, so there is a part of me that thinks this game will turn out to be shit... again
