I hear so many bad things about that game, IE the politics, backstabbing, and utter douchbagery that goes on I don't think I ever even want to pick it up since its been out for so long.
Like wise, I'm not trying to start a flame war here but what exactly is the "fun" in this game with all the bad things in it?

Again, I want to state that I am not trying to start a flame war, just wondering about it.
The fact its harsh, unforgiving and political is what makes it fun for some of us :D

This is pretty good to be honest. Might give EvE another go at some point, probably put a total of 6 months in on and off now... and its great fun.

ALso, its not as deadly as people think, if you join a Hi-Sec corp that does mining and missioning to start with, you can build up your skills, ships and isk. My corp started off doing the pvp with Empire wars, and has since moved off into another corp in 0.0

I encourage people to at least do the trial/buddy program. And do it with other people/people in game already. It can make all the difference with backup!

ahhh im so glad CCP are handing out 'im lost please dont hurt me' signs, it does make my life so much easyer lol

I find that people who enjoy playing eve found games like wow just to easy and as such boring, they enjoy somthing a bit more complex then "im lvl 80 ill pwn u" but you tend to find people who enjoy eve enjoy the corp side alot, playing with other people who are working to the same goal as you, its a good feeling, and there is nothing better than being in a 400+ship fleet fight when ur fighting with you corp mates... if you do enjoy games like WoW i realy dont think u will enjoy EvE, i know people who like both but not many.

in all honisty EvE is a hard game to rap your head around as a new player but all the in game help stops you from getting your self killed untill you have some idea of what not to do. the ingame help realy does give you a step by step run through of everything in game from how not to get killed by another player to how to sell somthing a few jumps away.

As for the backstabing and pvp... i wont lie to you, eve is a brutal game in that way, you fly into 0.4 space people will shoot and ask questions later... if they ever bother to ask them. EvE is not a nice friendly game all around, its very political and my words of advise.

if your the kind of player who like to go out, kill a 100 npc's and level up, this game is not for you, if on the other hand ur the player who lays in wait for the formentioned player and then kills him, loots him and does a dance on him just to take the piss, or earns 100's of gold on the market, or likes to run a well oiled guild... come play with the big boys and bring a spare pair of pants :p

EDIT: Also I like how they say the box contains the 10th expansion. It doesn't, the copy on the actual disc will be the 9th expansion - the 10th expansion is under public testing as I speak - meaning they have at least a 1.4 gig patch as soon as they buy. Annoying for them, but something that had to be done.
Is that an accurate figure? Cause damn, that's like 50% of the game's current size. No kidding about it being a big expansion.

The advertising more likely wants to make the point that expansions are free, though.

Well the main reason behind the size is that they have re-written the graphics engine again to allow the newest models to run on older computers (i.e. those who can't run shader model 3).

This means the patch not only includes a huge pile of in game content, but an entire bank of textures, new effects and so fourth. The main reason its so big is simply because the patch will basically be you downloading the game again to get rid of the now unused 2003 models and 2004 textures, and bring in the newer ones.

I've been off and on thinking about giving this game a shot when this expansion comes out (which it has as now), but this thread is making me lean back to "nah".
