Hopefully thin one will be fun to play. IV's story was great but it was boring as hell.

Driving onto a cargo plane with a motorcycle, planting explosives and parachuting off is waaaay more fun than doing mostly escort/rescue/assassination missions under the same conditions with little variety. The only really exciting moments were the helicopter chase and the chase on the motor bike.

Also dial bike the "realism" on the cars, like Yahtzee stated the cars drove like they had another car on top of them. That's no bueno.

I'm getting SR3 new, I can't say the same for GTAV

I was figuring it was just Los Santos and Red County from the trailer. That's still a lot of territory for fun. One thing I hope for is a return of one or two familiar faces. Getting nothing but new faces in IV was a bit of a letdown. Where the hell is 8-Ball?

Oh, and a proper PC port would be nice.
This. This is the number one thing. One thing that pisses me off time and time again is the finger that Rockstar gives to PC's. Though they went one step further and gave PC the shaft by denying a PC port of Red Dead Redemption.

I wouldn't mind a bit of empire building, myself. Taking over gangland was a plus in GTA:SA. It could be done in V as well, only maybe more the end of buying real estate where you also get security guards who can harass passing pedestrians for no better reason than for giggles. As well as dealing with break-ins of your property.

I thought people wanted developers to push forward and try new things, not just rehash the past over and over. For the life of me I don't understand why people want GTA V to be the same as San Andreas. Why not just go play that instead?
We don't want the same game we want the same fun madness GTA was built on, GTA4 however smacks you in the face "Now sit down and do your taxes! And write your mom an email while you're at it!"

If they started the GTA franchise in this depressing tone... well then there would be no GTA franchise.

Calling it RIGHT NOW:

Las Venturas and San Fierro released as additional DLC.

WELCOME TO THE FUTURE OF GAMING!!
Even if they are instanced and not actually added to the main map, I wouldn't mind that one bit. That would provide for better new story content than using the same setting each time as they did with Episodes from Liberty City. I wouldn't mind romping around ol' Bone County, again. (The countryside of Las Venturas, FYI)

People expecting this to be San Andreas are probably going to be a tad disappointed. You want pseudo-serious, character driven crime dramas, you play GTA. You want to fly around on a jetpack flinging shit at people and hitting them with dildos, you play Saints Row.
No reason GTA shouldnt have a balance of both.
Because trying to have a (to a degree) serious tone while providing the player a chance to beat someone to death with a dildo is really stupid. I actually found San Andreas kind of annoying because of that.

At least with the way things are now one can choose or hell, get both. It's just my opinion and I know I'm in the minority here, but still.

Seattle is two states over from California mate... And I say that as a Canadian.
As an Australian, American geography wasn't taught.

Oregon then. I dunno, what ever is in Oregon. Trees I think.

Hmmm, upon checking a Google map of western America, I see a town in Oregon that is ripe for GTA parody;

Beaverton.

:D
Seattle is in Washington state, jus' saying.

Venturas/Vegas isn't in California either, so I don't see any problem with included a Pacific northwest city... in fact, that would be awesome. Just make the map as big as possible. That's what I loved about San Andreas, that feeling of going into another different, but familiar world all the time. After the ambitious beauty of SA, GTA IV was one of the biggest gaming disappointments I'd ever experienced. But I'm pretty damn optimistic about GTA V.

I will not buy GTA V until it's on clearance, GTA 4 was a huge dissapointment. I mean you couldn't even buy a mansion with your million dollars? WTF? Hell what could you do with the money your cousin died for? Nothing! No Suburban House, no Wife, No Porn Stars.

GTA III was the best, making income in any way you could. They need to expand on that aspect before I buy another GTA game..

The graphics and npc's i hope are more vibrant simulatons to the real world in GTA5 with all the NPC's either rich or poor, having jobs or partying on the beach. I want to be able to command NPC's to rob a bank, and snipe from the roofs, and then take the money and buy a Skyscraper with tenants who work for my Corporation that I can walk into and hassel them all for being fools who work in a cubicle under me.

This is the type of game Americans want to buy, and Saints Row 3 looks more like it. Only game were you can make your character a topless skinny chick with a blue thong and light blue Curve lower back Tatoo in blue/black high heels! Hell Yeah!

We'll see.

Now we know Rockstar's penchant for releasing damn good single player DLC - I'll be amazed if Fierro and Venturas aren't released later on.

I hope the horses are still in this. Nothing beats starting the game, abusing autosave and becoming a billionaire, then watching cutscenes about CJ complaining how poor he is.
Yea, they just need to make sure we have stuff to spend our winnings on.

So you're not even a little worried about the other islands being dlc? They charged $20 for the gta4 dlc and that didn't have anything as ambitious as a new area. How much are they going to charge to double the area? I suppose it wont matter if each area is as large and interesting as the original San Andreas but I doubt that will be the case.
But hey, at least the people making it think they're doing a good job.

Did you play the same game as me? I remember GTA IV as the game where I could drive into other cars and watch Niko go flying through the windshield hilariously.

That was funny the first time, after that when your car randomly spun out from scraping a pavement and sending you straight into a wall and loosing 20 minutes of a mission it was far from hilarious.

Hmmmm... Is it just me, Or is it possible for DLC (Expanision Packs) that would include a series of missions in San Fierro or Las Venturas?

I'm just saying, Hey, it could happen.

There was nothing in that game more eminently satisfying than force feeding CJ until he looked like a small blimp, then having him strafe cars in a jet pack while humming Flight of the Valkyries [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GGU1P6lBW6Q].
Yeah, except that never happens. I know this because I had a fat CJ, and it refused to let me play with the jetpacks until I lost all the weight. I distinctly remember this because it pissed me off to no end at the time. It just showed me that all the character customization was BS in the game. Sure, you can customize CJ a little bit, but if the game doesn't like your CJ, you'd damn well better change him back or you don't get to play with the fun toys.

So I just hope they leave that garbage out of GTA V like they did with GTA IV. If they want to have a specific protagonist, that's fine as long as they don't pretend that we can customize him to help sell the game and then refuse to let us play if we make the character too different from what they imagined.

I kinda feel bad for Rockstar (also companies like Bethesda), who have to slave away at trying to top their previous installment. Every entry they try for the biggest and best they can possibly muster. I mean, we're still stuck on the same console generation and they have to figure out how to make everything bigger and better (again). Somehow they do it.

Though in the end, they will make hundreds of millions...

Tell them to boast again when they have a map as big as Daggerfalls.
Shit, even half the size of Daggerfall would be good enough to boast. That game was fucking HUGE.
However Daggerfall repeated alot of the same textures and stuff...over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.

Also anyone else think that the guy doing the narrative voice (and perhaps in a few shots in a suit) sounds a but like Tommy V from GTA:Vice City (my fav gta).

Slight obscure fact; San Andreas as the setting for a potential sequal; was hinted at leat a year ago on the GTAIV website where you could see Roman's passport, a suitcase and a airplane ticket to SA, so expect a guest appearance from the cousins Bellic.

I have a few wishes for GTA V:

* bring back character customization.
* Let me have choise in clothes, like in SA.
* Bring back car customization and garages to store them in.
* Don't make my supposed friends annoy me with their constant nagging and loss of friendship.
Seiously, I hardly had time to do anything else and the minigames became dreadfully boring.
* Please let me but some property and oter things with my millions.
It is incredibly frustrating to have millions of dollars and nothing to spend them on.

And for last, lighter up a little. I wan't to have fun in this one.

I wonder if there will be a PC port at all, considering Rockstar's other good game, Red Dead Redemption ?
Unless GTA V bombs, theres a high chance it will be a console only affair.
Rockstar havent been too kind to thier PC fanbase since consoles are more market friendly and easier to develop for... last GTA PC port was bad, and the fans crapped all over it.
I don't get why people complain about the PC port of GTA IV. I bought it for Xbox and then PC (when I sold it for Xbox) and I cannot seriously tell you I notice much of a difference. I even play the PC version with the 360 controller.

In any case, as I've said before, I've liked all the GTAs until now, except the portable ones (only played the iPhone one, so can't judge the others), so I'll bet this is going to be the same in my book. I hope they do include all the cities. Maybe even part of Vice or Liberty City.

Nevada is east of California, the game couldn't support the actual hundreds of kilometers between Los Angeles and Las Vegas.

I too liked that about San Andreas, the 3 zones felt so different it was almost like playing an entirely different game.

With it's Brown Filter, everywhere in GTA4 looked the same. And the game felt really small in comparison.

'All you had to do was follow the damn train, CJ.'

All the Grand Theft Auto games suffer from failing missions in the most irritating of ways, it isn't a problem solely contained to GTA IV.
