And this proves that you don't know what we're talking about.Aac18 said:Well this just proves that the L4D2 boycott'ers have no idea what they talking about. Anyway on topic I really look forward to this campaign, it looks very interesting and should provide a good few hours of game play.
WE ARE COMMITTED:
-To holding Valve to its promise of free, continual updates to Left 4 Dead in order to build and sustain the community.
-To supporting the model of continual updates Valve has set forth with its staple products like Team Fortress 2.
WE REQUEST:
-That Valve honor its commitment to release ongoing periodic content for Left 4 Dead.
Valve stated they will continue to support L4D around the same time as they released L4D2, the Boycott'ers weren't content to take their word for it however and created a fuss over nothing.AkJay said:Uhm.. how could they possibly have known they were releasing a new DLC? with their knowledge at the time, it seemed like a pretty reasonable thing to do. . .
Meh, I still don't think it's a good enough excuse though. At this point Valve could tell them to go F themselves and it would be justified, regardless of what the promised in the past.Cap said:YESSSS.
i am pleased by this announcement.
PILLS ARE HERE.
and all this complaint with L4D2 boycotters, Valve obviously made this announcement to placate them, since it announced L4D2 BEFORE the DLC. I don't see Bethesda announcing Fallout 4 before any of its new DLC, or Team Fortress 3 before the Scout update. thats all the L4D guys were protesting, the apparent abandonment of L4D for its sequel, since anyone can tell you about Valve, they devote ALOT of effort into making a new game, so the fact that they were already working on L4D2 would make any Valve fan ASSUME that no DLC for L4D is being made.

Possibly the most evil map I've seen
It's the best custom map I've seen so far though. That and Night Terror are the two best, easily, with Night Terror being more original.Danny Ocean said:The [22g] people have offered up their L4D servers to us, and they run that map afaik. Check the thread for IPs. We're still a little iffy on how to actually connect, though.
I'de rather have them making a fuss over nothing then to blindly follow a company who they feel have wronged them.Aac18 said:Valve stated they will continue to support L4D around the same time as they released L4D2, the Boycott'ers weren't content to take their word for it however and created a fuss over nothing.AkJay said:Uhm.. how could they possibly have known they were releasing a new DLC? with their knowledge at the time, it seemed like a pretty reasonable thing to do. . .
Maybe so, but it would be nice to see people having at least some faith in a company with such an exemplary history , rather than jump onto the "Omg, they broke their promise to support L4D!!" without even giving Valve time to react.AkJay said:I'de rather have them making a fuss over nothing then to blindly follow a company who they feel have wronged them.
Well, when Valve release information about an upcoming sequel, set to release barely a year after the release of the original, with detailed information about new features, the setting, the campaigns, with plenty of in-game footage, before providing any information at all about upcoming DLC for the original, it is a little bit worrying. Of course, I want to trust Valve, but can you blame us for getting a bit worried given those circumstances, especially when they still held off from giving any detailed information about the DLC, just asking us to trust them without any concrete evidence.Kwil said:Actually, we're having a go at you because you're such asses to believe that they wouldn't live up to their promises in the first place, despite continual assurances from them both before and after the formation of the group that they would, and we're having a go at you for having the temerity to say you "support" a model which is essentially, "We sit on our fat asses and they give us stuff for free", when your support is "Do it or we won't purchase another product in the future". Here's a hint, making a threat because of something you don't want does not equate to supporting that which you do.
You know what support would have been? Support would have been forming a group saying, "We're willing to pay reasonable prices for future L4D updates"

I still have a hard time believing that Valve is going to fulfill all those DLC promises made before. L4D2 has a lot of resources that could be implemented in L4D1.The_root_of_all_evil said:Until then, why not try the Dead Aboard mod.(PC Only, sorry)
