New LovePlus Turns Your Girlfriend Into Fantasy Weather Girl

If your girlfriend was a weather girl on TV and you could save the show by dressing her in skanky clothing, would you do it?

Daydreaming about that girl you have a crush on and putting her in fantasy scenarios is pretty common, but not too many videogames include this feature. However, the latest entry into the LovePlus franchise is going to continue including fantasy dream sequences (called "Dream Events" in the game) with its upcoming game New LovePlus.

Illustrator Mino Taro has just revealed three new Dream Events that will appear in New Love Plus, which includes a scenario that requires players to make costume decisions about one potential girlfriend's on-air attire when she works as a television weather girl.

Here are the newly-revealed dream events:

? Manaka's Dream Event: "Gal Manaka." Player head out for a date with Manaka but instead wind up encountering Gal Manaka. Confused what a gal is? "A gal is one of those obnoxious girls you see hanging around in Shibuya (where Manaka seems to be in the screenshot). If you played Dragon Quest IX, your fairy companion Sandy was meant to be like a gal."

? Rinko's Dream Event: "Fighting Game Rinko." This is pretty self-explanatory, based on the title. Players wind up in the middle of a martial arts tournament, and their rival is Rinko, who goes by the fighter name "Shaorin."

? Nene's Dream Event: "Weather Girl." Players become the producer of a new weather program, of which Nene is the star weather girl. However, the ratings are taking a beating during this sequence, and players have to decide if they'll sacrifice their relationship in order to save the show by having Nene dress in more revealing outfits when she's on-air.

Presumably, New LovePlus won't be released outside of Japan, seeing as how none of its predecessors received that treatment. You may recall that, back in 2009, the first LovePlus game <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/96341-Japanese-Man-Marries-Videogame-Girlfriend>made international headlines when a particularly dedicated fan decided to marry Nene (the game character) in real life. Even though he promised not to "cheat" on her if a new LovePlus came out, what do you think the odds are that he'll reverse his stance when he hears about the "Weather Girl" bit?

Sounds good and all, but will this one have insanely amusing DRM [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/7.205371-Dating-Sim-Girls-Dump-Pirates]?

Ya know, that last scenario is really interesting and sounds like a game I'd be interested in playing. Do all the LovePlus scenarios force you to make such no win decisions, and if so, to what extent?

Damn it, I wish there was a market for these games over here.

Well, I could just learn Japanese, but it's such a bother...

*Shrugs*

I guess I never understood dating sims as a game. I guess this isn't something I would want to play.

I thought this was going to be about "scanning" your girlfriend's face in game but then I realised people that buy this stuff are near guaranteed NOT to have girlfriends.

Is your girlfriend "contractually obliged" by the network to wear suggestive clothing? I want this answered along with "Why is there a frog in a wig?"

*Sigh*

If this game is never going to be released over here in the states, I seriously don't get the point of why this article was made.

Well.

This is a..... very..... very..... very...... odd game.

Of all things - why a weather personality? I fail to see how that's "sexy" in any way shape or form. Weather report readers are just people who stand in front of a green screen and poorly gesture towards computer animations. In fact, with modern technology, the weather presenter is superfluous. The screen has all the information you need.

For example, there's this cable weather channel we have in Australia, appropriately named "The Weather Channel". For many years this channel had no presenters - it was just a few screens presenting all the necessary information, accompanied by some pleasant classical or sambo music (classical music during winter, sambo music during summer). It did the job - it showed the temperature, cloud patterns, rainfall and many other things.

Then suddenly Foxtel decided to "revamp" the weather channel and introduce TV personalities. So now I have some guy or gal standing there POINTING to the big blue spot on the map and saying "DURR, DURR, THIS MEANS IT'S COLD HERE, DURR!". Yes, thank you for that, how could I ever have figured out that the little box with the lower number indicates that the region is colder than the place with the box that has the higher number without your help TV weather personality!

More often than not, these weather people just stand there and say what is on the screen. What is the point of that!? I have EYES. I can SEE what is on the screen! I know that the little graphic icon of a rain cloud means that it will probably rain there! And it's no help to blind people either, because they usually just gesticulate wildly at the screen to indicate where they're talking about, as in "This region will experience some showers", but the blind person can't see where they're pointing!

So for blind people and seeing people alike, TV weather personalities are superfluous! They just stand there and tell you things you can easily deduce on your own! I mean, really, do you NEED someone to point to a little icon of the sun and say "This icon here means it's going to be sunny!"?

Sorry..... sorry.... I just really hate TV weather people. They're not even real meteorologists.

No matter how beautiful I find a weather personality, I can't help but be angered by the fact that the TV station thinks I'm so stupid that I need someone to help me understand that the H means High Pressure and that the L means low pressure.

Guys, it's Japan. Come on.

Also, I'd say "what the fuck is that frog thing", but I already answered that.

It's a raincoat, not a wig. They have a "weatherfrog" on the weather broadcast here too but it's a small plush frog, not a mascot.

Well, that all sounds quite innocent and not particularly relevant for anyone outside of Japan.

With a commercial US release forthcoming, there's always this [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/95937-This-Is-the-Best-Trailer-for-a-Japanese-Porn-Game-Ever] little taste of Japanese gaming antics though.

The sexiness of the game is now certainly unsexy. Frogs aren't sexy.

I'd rather have one of these games come over here than a dozen realistic military shooters.
