As for the price tag. I don't mind it really, it's just a little weird that there are two free mission based ones but they charge for this. It's not a complaint as it's cheaper, it's just an odd way of doing things. Like taking a car in for repairs and having them change the tyres for free but asking you to pay for new windscreen wipers.
But you only got those other ones for free if you got the game brand new.
They were free...with the Cerberus Network.
If you got it used, you had to pay 1200 MS points in order to get in on the deal.

So those other DLC releases were more like a big 'thank you' for buying the game brand new, and directly supporting the developer. And I'm totally OK with that. I, personally, love Project $10, and Mass Effect 2's Cerberus Network has been great for those of us who bought it new.

And now that the 'thank you's have been made, they are now releasing DLC for everyone. Kasumi was great, I use her in the field a ton (Her fully upgraded punch to the back of the head is awesome), and I look forward to see what else they release! I don't mind these little pack releases.

Would I like a big one? With new romance options and places to explore? Heck yeah I would! But those things take time, and Bioware wants to keep people interested in the game. How to do that? Small DLC releases until the big ones. Makes sense to me! And it adds more to an already awesome game. And if I don't get these small releases...nothing is taken away! So either enjoy it, or ignore it!

Tsk tsk for rushing it. I encountered no issues (dying or getting lost) but I managed to make it last at least an hour.
I just don't know how you can make it last an hour, there's not much to do in it. Both Zaeed and Kasumi have no mission as recruitment (a lost opportunity there), and the loyalty mission for Kasumi is a few clicks and talks and then a fight. There's only so much clicking and talking before everyone has exhausted their dialog. 30 minutes here, maybe an hour if I walked away and made a pie.
I looked around absolutely everywhere and tried talking to everyone at the party as well as listening to all the conversations. I am also including talking to Kasumi as well as the ending aboard the Normandy plus her intro.

Being a Vanguard against the enemy at the end probably didn't help either.

Aye, it's all working perfectly. I must say, Mass Effect 2 is fucking great.
When you're right you're right! I can't actually get away from the game, I think I play it far too much!
Indeed, I played through three times so quickly in succession that I can't play any more at the moment.
Me too, but every time I think I am free it pulls me back in and I am completely obsessed with making the 'perfect', Shepard! :-O

'Tis a masterpiece alright. Loved every minute of it (except the planet scanning bits). The last few hours will make you nerdgasm.
My poor, poor thumbs and my poor brain, but honestly if I ever suffer insomnia I am planet scanning, because it seriously (literally) sends me to sleep!
I know, it really is that boring. I do get insomnia every now and again and even I felt sleepy doing those monotonous chores.

'Probe away.'
'Really, Commander'? ;-) ROFL!

I think the typical DLC expectations are bogging people down here - BW is trying a different format and I think it's great but, I concede that maybe they're marketing tactics and wording are wrong - ultimately leading to the disappointment shown by the general community.

Charging for "accessories" such as this is for the roll players who are really into the game and likely to play it more than once *raises her hand*. I'm looking at these items like I would clothing in a store - do I really want to pay money for them? Will I really ware them? These don't fit my in-game life style and feel no need to purchase them. But a new sniper rifle will like get me to lay down some cash. BW is going to put out a lot of little things like this because it will appeal to some players somewhere. Getting Garrus new armor that doesn't have a gaping hole in it was really important to me

To the people complaining about DLC long after people have finished the game, I state again, these are directed to the roll players who were already playing through the game more than once.

Offering up mission based DLC for less money or free is a way to bring people "back" to the game. It's extended marketing to try and change "once through" gamers into repeat players - and once you're a repeat player you might really want to go back and pick up some of these little extras if just to try them out. And the price point is right for that.
All fair points. I have 3 playthroughs done and when I go back to play it again in 6 months it might be nice to have some little extra bits and pieces to make it a bit different.

I did think Kasumi was a bit of a let-down though. The smoke and mirrors covering the 'go here, click this' gameplay seemed like they were starting to fade and wear away, leaving a pretty shallow experience.

And welcome to the Escapist, may you enjoy your stay.

Admittedly I wasn't aware of the Cerberus Network being charged for until fairly recently as I bought it new.

I do see what you mean in relation to the 'Thank You' though, and admit I hadn't thought of it that way, it's a very good point. Probably because I tend to get most games brand new anyway (unless it's an old one).

That's what I did for my third one. Every planet explored, all DLC missions and side-quests completed. All the right decisions made. Romance "completed" (sounds like an odd thing for a check list), everyone survived and fully levelled up and ready for the next one.

I'd skip all DLCs if it meant getting ME3 sooner.... it's pretty much Number 1 on my gaming wishlist right now.
Same here. I am glad I got into the series late (I bought them both after ME2's release) so I never had to wait for the first two.

Disappointed. Those small DLCs are annoying. I wanna see some big expansions like for DA.

I'm not sure if your freudian slip was intentional or not. I'm wondering if you intended to say "rollplayers" or "roleplayers", as there's a distinct difference between the two. Certainly any content such as "new helmet + armour!" is directed to roll players, not RPers.

Sorry, I neither died nor got lost, took me about 30-40 mins as Infiltrator on Insanity. There was no rushing I assure you.

If you're just starting the game this seems like a good DLC as it'll add something to the game but seeing as I have already completed the game it's a bit pointless as I won't be using it.

To be honest, I would prefer to get the mission based stuff free and then have the option whether or not i should buy the cosmetic dlc, rather than the other way around.

From our point of view it's a great deal, seeing as the missions would probably be around 400-560 MS each (so 800-1120) and getting these will tally up to about 400 MS. I just meant that it seemed a little odd from theirs, unless of course they are using the same logic and thinking "Well we gave them the long stuff for free, so maybe they won't mind paying a little for some extras".

Seems like the armor reminds me of cheat codes for the yester years of gaming. I can deal with the low 2 dollar like price but It would seem this would have been free with the Cerberus Network thing but awwell.

i want more missions but I can deal with this for now.

Ha - good catch - actually it was a slip of the fingers (disconnect between my brain and keyboard). I was thinking RPers but, you make an interesting point. Any maybe this is all semantics but, it was an interesting thought exercise for me - take it for what it's worth ;)

I would slightly, only slightly, disagree with you that the new equipment isn't appealing to RPers. It is appealing to them, but only a select group. Hear me out:

For Roll Players: Say you're new to the game, or picking it up just to play through and not get too involved in story (like my husband) then equipment is the first thing you're going to look at for DLC over story content. Can this give me an edge? Do I want bigger better weapons / powers / protection? So sure, first appeal of this type of DLC goes to them.

For Role Players: If you're replaying and likely getting into the game as an RPG then I think the new equipment does have some draw depending on your playing style. You're right, it's not high on my list and it's not the "exciting news" There's nothing in this pack that appeals to me and my Shepard personally:

Visor - I'm not biotic and my recharge time is already acceptable.
Helmet - I snipe... a lot... so shield recharge isn't a concern in my combat style.
Armor - hmmm, well the negotiation is interesting, but again, that sniping thing, I don't need the rest.

And none of these items are sexy enough for me to want to run out and play dress up in. Yes, it's a factor. That counts for role play too doesn't it?

Again - all of these are value added vs practical application. Like real life - I don't buy clothes that I'm not likely going to wear (at least not often - girl thing).

I would argue that these points about my game play and combat style are part of and an influence to my roleplaying experience. In this particular DLC case, not worth my money.

Regardless of all of this, my real point is that it comes all comes down to the marketing. While I applaud BW for the variety they're trying to offer I do believe the presentation (or pre-presentation) needs to be refined and polished.

((Thanks for the thoughts Indecipherable.))

Even though I might never use them I would buy the pack just to have everything that you can have for the game. I wouldn't want to miss out on anything no matter how big or small. I got the alternative outfits even. Damn you Bioware, making me spend my money on a pair of boots for Jack and Elton John style flamboyant glasses for Thane.
