Sidescrolling fighters are probably the ones best equipped to put in decent graphics and whatever technical overhauls are needed for 3d effects. They only need to make the fighters come out of the screen to make it good too.

However, I was in Curry's the other day and I was looking through the TVs, and the 3d telly they had on display DID NOT WORK AT ALL.
The glasses didn't make it 3d, they just made it darker (you could still see all the lines that are meant to be in 3d, just as if you weren't wearing the glasses). If that's their example of 3d, I don't understand how it will ever take off...

EDIT: is the poster above me wearing a Junior Senior: Move your feet music video avatar?
You sir, are awesome. Quote does not seem to be working though...

Pointless - MK is dead anyways - they keep ruining the gameplay more and more. MK2 was and still is the best of the bunch so this 'gimmick' is easily their big sell thing for it. Even the japanese are polled with only 30% interested in buying a 3d TV. Sony wil flog this horse like the next blu ray...

I remember when sony were cool... sad days.

MORTAL KOMBAAAAT!!!!! Ahem sorry. In all seriousness I am just excited that Mortal Kombat is going to be stupidly violent again. Also 3D tv's are really really stupid there is like no market for them.

You know what a struggling franchise really, really needs? A gimmick that makes it inaccessible to a significant part of its user base.

I'd love to just make a post with *facepalm* in it and nothing else, but I know I can't.

I guess we'll just have to wait until this whole 3D thing is over.

Wow.. another reason not to care about Mortal combat.

Seriously, do they really think that many people have 3d TV's?

I'm starting to get a little annoyed with how hard they're pushing this now. It's almost like we have no choice.

I'd wish people would stop requesting that 3D technology not be tethered to the glasses. Face it folks, it doesn't work without them. What you are referring to is holographic images, and outside of CNN and Star Wars, we aren't much closer to getting that available to the public in general, so stop making ridiculous requests.

Mortal Kombat didn't need any kind of nutty gimmicks to draw in gamers. Nice idea, but not needed in the slightest. Just want to show off what they can do and (probably) raise the price of games that are 3D compatible. Am I the only one who sees that coming?
FPS games I think would see more benefit from this technology, or pretty much most first person games. I feel it would really help to immerse you into the gaming environment. I just don't see it as being a positive aspect to Mortal Kombat.
You fix our eyes so we don't need regular glasses first then we will stop going on about the 3D glasses.

I love the continued assertion that only the PS3 can do 3D. Nonsense. Did nobody play G-Force or Avatar on the Xbox? Oh, wait, good point, nobody did. Still, they were both 3D on the Xbox. It kinda seems like sony are just latching onto it in an attempt to drive sales of their 3D tvs. It's kinda like Microsoft suddenly saying "The next big thing we're bringing to our console is full 5.1 surround sound. This will revolutionise gaming." while simultaneously releasing their own brand surround system and claiming that nobody else is currently 'doing' 5.1. It's already there, it already does it, some people will spend the money for a decent system (I mean decent, not an all in one bundle from pc world) but many people are happy to just stick with what they can currently afford. Difference is, surround is considerably cheaper and arguably more important (until 3D can be projected to surround the player of course. Then Kinect will come into its own :D).

Edit: This wasn't a jab at anyone posting on here, more at Sony and the writer of the article for A)flat out lying and B)not doing the appropriate research.
