As far as I know it would be used by Presidents etc. who are in danger of being assassinated. The tech behind it seems viable (using electromagnetism to detect metal bullets heading your way) and it would be like being hit by a taser. Not pleasant but (usually) not deadly, definitely better than being shot.

There's SO much wrong with this idea.

Apart from the speed needed to avoid a projectile, the problem of sending a muscle into spasm at a specific time, the strain on the body, the idea of the system misinterpreting, the attempt at trying to avoid a bullet heading directly at your body, being hit by shrapnel, getting it wet...

The only use I can see for this is as an instrument of torture.
So which would you rather experience? Violent muscle spasms, or getting shot?
What if one of those spasms ended... unsuccessfully? And you lost control over your muscles? That's like being paralyzed.

Would it work if you threw a ball at someone wearing it? You should link this to the taser thread...
Probably.

I'd rather take a bulletproof vest then being ripped apart by my own equipment when somebody fire on full auto.

Uh. Nothing can save you if someone fires few bullets into you.

You can patent bullet dodging?

Maybe I should patent my bullet dodging technique, namely staying the hell away from firearms and the people who love them. Then sue everybody else on Earth who does the same.

Sweet, I can't wait for the protoype to crush it's operator to death.

Let's they give them to George Bush(s).

Bullet every time, it's less likely to kill me.

seems pointless,I would think(THINK)that it would be easier to design a suit for protection rather than prevention(that term is usually fine, but this time it lack the ability to fit the bill)

I think that this only works for sniper fire. Close range and/or full auto fire would be pretty much impossible to dodge.

The solution?

The acceleration needed to dodge a bullet would create more G force than hitting a brick wall at 200 MPH. Unless they found some way to increase the body's G tolerance, there'd be no way.
