I don't want zombies in medieval periods because hitting a zombie with a sword(or similar melee weapon) is pretty much the same as hitting the typical soldiers you fight in medieval games. Just step in close and hit'em in the face.

If zombie gunmen took cover and threw grenades just like regular soldiers, then making it a zombie doesn't change much. You just shoot'em like every other bad

Zombies attack stupidly, and in large numbers. It's a pretty specific behavior, and part of the entertainment factor is how your method of fighting them plays off that behavior. Shooting them with guns is fun, because zombie behavior presents an enemy ready to charge into your gunfire and get mowed down. Feels good to cut swaths through incoming hordes, makes you feel like a bit of a superman.

I would be interested in a zombie game set in a European city during WWI. It'd have a mix of melee and projectile combat, in a highly distinctive atmosphere that hasn't been seen very often. There would be room for artistic expression in juxtaposition to the war close at hand where men have lost their humanity and have become soulless shells whose only purpose is to lie in wait until they can kill. (The dark and muddy frontlines were just miles from home for these soldiers, they could spend 2 weeks in a muddy trench, then walk home where everything is almost the same...while still hearing the cannons in the distance). There has been a vast amount of poetry and other literary works detailing the mindset and the atmosphere for soldiers in that period, which can be funneled into the game's presentation.

Zombie media often depict themes of "the loss of innocence" in reflection of how the world has changed after the zombie epidemic. This ties in perfectly to World War I where people still believed in heroic warfare. Marching down the streets to the frontline, expecting swift victory and a triumphant return by christmas. There's a lot of potential for such a game.

ZOMBIES IN SPAAAAAACE!!!!!

Sorry I had to. I think revolutionary war zombies would be cool. Just imagine and infected on a boat then the boat becomes infected then a small group of privateers show up and then they fight off the but one of them gets bit and goes back onboard and the cycle continues until the oceans are filled with zombie boats just randomly floating. Or how about huge forts and an infected gets inside and there are tons of them inside the thing.

I dont know. Zombies kinda really arent that interesting if you get right down to it. They always do the same thing and really in the end they are just a brainless horde. You hit them in the head or shoot them in the head. But I think the American frontier with Indians and some cowboys and then zombie cowboys and revolutionary soldiers. All mixed with zombies and a fight against the red coats. That could be some fun.

Personally, I want to have a zombie game where you're a dark overlord who takes over the world with zombies... during WW2, starting with the Germans:

Zombie nazis dip their arm bands in white dye and make a red skull symbol on them in human blood, renouncing Hitler's flawed plan in favor of The Master's glorious plan.
German soldiers shamble and if upgraded, regain enough mental power to use their rifles.

Civilians are the shamblers, pretty self-explanatory.
German officers are not zombies, but intelligent humans who you have indoctinated personally and bestoyed a small taint of unlife to, their purpose to help manage your zombie hordes.

The Master himself can walk up to people and indoctrinate them or if they're too strong willed, zombify them.
His appearance is that of a tall pale man in a robe with gentle blue eyes and and long brown hair.

It would be like Overlord in a way, in that it would operate like an RTS game, but you have a character through which these RTS commands are being issued.

American West in the 1800s would definitely be a lot of fun. I think there have been a handful of horror movies to do this, but as far as I know no zombie movies. This is a great setting for a game or movie because there's a good selection of weapons- revolvers, muskets, repeating rifles, sabres, Indian weapons like tomahawks and bows, and others- plus it's scarier because it's so remote. At best you'd have a horse, a rifle, and a torch and have to make a long trek through rugged, zombie-infested woods and mountains to reach a doctor or to resupply.

I think medieval is kind of overdone. The undead are pretty much a staple enemy in about every sword and sorcery game I've played.

I thought Nazis zombies got the balance quite right with weapons for fighting zombies, do you choose a rifle, shotgun or machine pistol? As each have varying uses.

Maybe a ww2 game set in the early years in africa/the middleast. There's a large town/small city which both the allies and axis want to capture. It's a fictional city but the excuse is that all records of the city are completely erased by the Allied Government after the war.

You play choose to play as one of two main characters, one a German Afrika Corp, one British. The first couple of levels are standard WW2 fps fighting enemy soldiers, but eventually artillery fire opens a tomb underneath a building and thousand year old mummy like zombies start spilling out.

These are quickly and easily dispatched but some people are bitten. The game then turns in a zombie survival/killing game as you and your surviving men have to work with the Germans/Allies to fight the zombies. When playing two player co-op you both be either of the characters, any more more players would be generic soldiers.

The cover art could have the British soldier and the Afrika Corps soldier standing back to back on a ruined tank with zombies swarming around. Brit firing a thompson in one hand and a webley revolver in the other, German doing the same with a mp40 and luger.
