I've read online that you can join the Followers after having done some quests for them and becoming accepted or higher in reputation for them. I don't get a dialogue option from Julie or anybody for this. I don't know if people are lying about being able to join, if I'm doing something wrong (though my rep is "Liked" and I've done quite a bit for them), or if I have a missing dialogue bug à la Colonel Hsu in the monrail quest. Has anyone here joined them?

Edit: I think I've found how to "join" on this article on The Vault [http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Followers_lab_coat].

Additional info on how to join is here [http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Julie_Farkas] (check the third Note listed near the bottom of the page) if anyone is interested. It seems joining is more linked to donations

Crap! Joining the NCR Rangers was the only reason I was joining to buy that game. Great! Now I get to save money. =]

You don't "join" factions; They give you a safehouse, that's it.
Well there's a kind of way to join some factions, where they will give you a uniform. I know The Kings do this for sure. It might not be truly joining them, but sort of an "honorary member" type thing. I think you should get what I mean.

Well, since the NCR, Leigon, Brotherhood, Enclave, Kings, Khans, Boomers, Strip Security, and White Glove Society all let you join them, it stands to reason that the Followers will do the same. Have you:

Done the follower ending for ED-E's quest?
Done the follower ending for Veronica's quest?
Done "High times"?
Convinced the Atomic Wrangler to ship them supplies?
Bugged the Lucky 38 for them?
Rerouted HELIOS-1 to Freeside?

Once you do those (I forget which one specificially), they'll give you member's discounts and a key to their safehouse.

The Kings, being a gang, seems like it wouldnt really count in the same way the other factions do, after essentially saving all of thier asses, it is the least The King could do to let you join.
You can get power aromour from the Brotherhood.

Haven't done the first two, but I did reroute HELIOS-1 to the entire region (which actually gives you the most Followers fame). I finally found a page that sort of confirms that you can join them here [http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Followers_lab_coat]. It's odd that it's mentioned on that page but not on the actual Followers page on the wiki, but oh well. The advantages aren't really great or anything it seems, but it's cool for roleplaying purposes. According to that article, it seems linked to donations more than anything.

The followers are NOT A CLUB. They are a group of like minded individuals who work to help people be independent. There is no follower uniform or "follower membership". Asking to join the followers of the apocalypse is like asking if you can join anonymous in 4chan. Its not a damn club.
Calm down there, fella.

You can get Better Power Armor from the Enclave.
You can get a sweet Space Suit in the REPCONN Facility.

i wasn't angry. i use caps instead of bold since its easier and how the escapist lacks an actual control panel to add effects.
I feel like I've made this mistake with you before. Apologies. The internet has a way of obscuring things.

I want to know this too, I am idolized and I've done all the quests from julie since I can't ask for more work.

I'd assume You should be able to become a "part" of any faction you work for:
-I'm idolized by the NCR and have their safehouse key
-I'm idolized by the Brotherhood and have their safehouse key
-I'm idolized by the Followers and they have a safehouse but nearing the end of the game, I've never gotten a dialogue option that leads me to get the key.

However, I've done Veronica's personal quest that:
Ended up having her leave the brotherhood and go to the follower outpost to have her join the Followers. I also had the dialogue option to join them, but when told to wait and come back the next day, those paladins killed everyone, including the man I was suppost to speak with, and completed Veronica's quest
Was that person the only one I had the "Join the followers" dialogue option? If so I'll be slightly annoyed because none of the other faction quests have that issue to worry about
