Actual gameplay showcase will be in the weekend.SckizoBoy said:Not representative of actual gameplay, so a *meh* from me. That said, though I don't have a rig good enough to even play WH1, of the two, I'm definitely more psyked for Lizardmen. Lore of Heavens OP etc. etc.
Currently, the only compelling thing from Skaven is their artillery and I just hate the play style they require to play well.
Well seeing as its DLC we already know what the gameplay will be like.SckizoBoy said:Not representative of actual gameplay, so a *meh* from me. That said, though I don't have a rig good enough to even play WH1, of the two, I'm definitely more psyked for Lizardmen. Lore of Heavens OP etc. etc.

Have to agree, plus early shaven is a pain since you're usually up against the lizard without much range/artillery option. Hate having to throw 3 unit of infantry just to maybe kill one of theirs. Here Comes Tomorrow said:Well seeing as its DLC we already know what the gameplay will be like.
Also the skaven campaign is a horrible pain in the ass as auto-resolve hates the Skaven and you need to manually play most battles. Even really easy ones so while I dearly love skaven (especially since my tabletop army spends most of its time in its box these days) playing them in Total War is a chore.
Not necessarily, as the free update is changing a few things, adding a new layer to how Bretonnia plays (and let's be honest, they kinda needed it). And who knows, the Ratling Gun teams has me somewhat curious and could add something new... even if the idea of Lord Kroak is much more enticing. Would need to see what his skill tree is like, though. Here Comes Tomorrow said:Well seeing as its DLC we already know what the gameplay will be like.
Something still to be fixed from Rome 2 days that prioritises melee def over all other stats. For me, though, I dislike the Skaven because of the whole blob tactics they need to function. Also the skaven campaign is a horrible pain in the ass as auto-resolve hates the Skaven and you need to manually play most battles. Sadly 40k is more popular then both.Batou667 said:It's telling that none of the (ongoing, successful) WHFB videogames are set in the Age of Sigmar universe, isn't it? Almost as if Games Workshop are realising (years after the fact, as is their way) that "evolving" the setting in a way that obliterates the last 30 years of lore might not go down too well with fans and players.
Elfgore said:Bout time! I've been needing a reason to return to my scaly buds and this game in general! It's also nice to see two of the more iconic Skaven units finally be included, their roster was sorely missing them. Now we just have to cross our fingers and hope for a 2020 Warhammer III release.
Games Workshop literally throw their license at anyone who looks at it. It's what kept them propped up during the final Kirby years. The problem with AoS is that the setting is a scrambled fucking mess. Like 40k you say "It's an sci-fi game with an oppressive, gothic theme.". Fantasy you say "It's fantasy with Germans." AoS it's like someone threw 40k and the Old World into the air, fired a shotgun and pieced it all together into something new and occasionally someone wipes their shoe on it and calls it a new faction.Batou667 said:It's telling that none of the (ongoing, successful) WHFB videogames are set in the Age of Sigmar universe, isn't it? See, but how is anyone supposed to go around throwing copyright lawsuits left and right to make a quick buck with a generic setting? Here Comes Tomorrow said:Admittedly Fantasy didn't have anything as recognisable as space marines but it was a fairly generic fantasy setting so you jump and you know the deal. Humans are humams, spikey elves are evil, arrogant elves are good, orcs are cockney, dwarfs have beards.
Races like the Lizardmen, Skaven, and Chaos Dwarfs is what makes this universe unique.Avnger said:See, but how is anyone supposed to go around throwing copyright lawsuits left and right to make a quick buck with a generic setting? Here Comes Tomorrow said:Admittedly Fantasy didn't have anything as recognisable as space marines but it was a fairly generic fantasy setting so you jump and you know the deal. While true, the setting reset done when WHFB became AoS (both in terms of gameplay and fluff) was what pissed a lot of the 'old guard' off (those who had played since about 5th-6th onwards and had emotionally invested at least somewhat in it... or such is my experience with my group back home) while the 40K reset was for gameplay only, so the community was thinking 'oh, they applied AoS to 40K... let's see what the fuss is about'.Samtemdo8 said:Sadly 40k is more popular then both.
We have Tiktaq'to confirmed as the Free Legendary Lord DLC for the Lizardmen:Gethsemani said:Well, who can say no to a good Predator reference? The fact that both the races of WH2 I like the least are getting new stuff bodes well for the last games I'll play in it prior to Three Kingdoms.
