New Warner Bros. Pres Eager to Reboot Batman for a Justice League Movie

The new head of Warner's film division, says he has a couple big things in mind for the company's DC film properties.

Jeff Robinov, the new head-honcho of Warner Bros's motion picture division and therefore the guy who makes the call on what movies do and do not get made, has set in motion a scheme to reboot the Caped Crusader- again -for inclusion in a Justice League movie to come out sometime in 2013.

While the decision to reboot seems silly considering the company has a Batman movie currently in production, it actually makes a certain amount of sense. Nolan's Batman is, as far as superheroics go, rather realistic. There is just no room in that world of gritty Jokers and dark Two-Faces for immense space station bases, alien attacks, or team-ups with impossibly strong, invulnerable people who shoot laser beams from their eyes.

While Warner has several DC hero movies in the works, including Green Lantern, Superman, and The Flash, the studio is thinking about taking an approach to their superhero team-up opposite to Marvel's. Where Marvel is giving every hero their own movie to build up backstory and recognition before putting them all in an Avengers film, Warner wants to throw every hero they have rights to in one massive super-powered extravaganza, and see which ones click with the public. Only once they have proven to be hits shall DC heroes receive movie franchises.

This isn't the first time Warner has tried to get a Justice League movie up and running; back in 2007, a movie was close to entering production, but the Writer's Guild strike and the success of dark-n'-gritty Batman shot it down before it ever left the gates.

Understanding that Christopher Nolan is pretty much the best chance Warner has at making a half-decent Justice League movie, it's already attached him and his wife Emma Thomas to the film as producers, and is currently discussing with them exactly what steps need to be taken to make sure this movie gets made, and made well.

I do not like the sound of this... As much sense as it makes to do the JL movie, rebooting the Batman franchise that soon probably won't be a good thing. Leave it a few years or make the JL movie first then make a new Batman based off the one introduced in that universe.

Also... Please god no Robin, unless it is completely necessary and works on at least one level.

Fuck it.

Reboot away if that means I'll get to see witty Flash/Green Lantern banter on the big screen in live-action.

What? It's my favorite part of the Justice League show.

DCUO manages it quite well.

It's all in the writing.

no thank you. Marvel's superhero teamup is already starting to show tearing around the seams. We don't need a JLA movie

A JLA movie? If they can get Grant Morrison to write (and tone down the confusion), it would be amazing.

uh, they should just do a batman/superman movie, and show how they are the yin/yang of that universe, batman is grity and smart, his bad gays are smart and can work the system, were superman's bad guys along with superman are just fast and blunt, as well as epic.

It makes me think of one of the cartoons i saw, were the superman tryed to catch the joker, and completely underestimated him, and payed for it.

Once the Avengers movie comes out and is a far bigger hassle than they thought it would be, it should just die off.

Unless ofcourse they just rush it into development before then, which will be a mess anyway.

I can see the benefits, but for fucks sake guys, at least wait a few years until doing something like this, it's become ridiculous now. The Spiderman movie is far too soon as well, they can't just reboot everything if it sucks and expect the public to be fine with it. I don't think Comic movies have much steam left...

Would be more enthusiastic but never been a big enough fan of the JLA. I like Batman, I kinda like Superman I guess, but my favourite story involving the JLA was when they completely disbanded for 52 and other heroes had to do all the work.

Make a Question movie starring Renee Montoya and Kate Kane as Batwoman. Then I'll be interested. Better yet make a tetralogy adapting the entire run of 52 to screens, then do something involving Power Girl, who is a far more interesting hero to read than most of the big three.

I really hate to see Robin in the Batman movies. Also I have no doubt that the Nolans' Batman is the best in movies (related to Batman).

The Christopher Nolan batman movies have been a rare case of good superhero movies, with one of the coolest superheroes of all time.

And now they are going to ruin it.

no, more no and just fuck no!

Batman and Iron man were the two landmark films that showcased how to properly turn comic books into films (arguably that list can extend to Scott Pilgram and The Watchmen but for different reasons)

Batman showed critics that it was possible to create great films out of comics and warner brothers are stepping backwards by rebooting it.

By rebooting batman or creating a justice leauge film they are giving up what makes them stand out in place coping Marvel

I say to warner brothers dont try to beat marvel rather try to give an audience something different.

I just don't think the Justice League will work in live action.

It's great in comics and animation, but the idea is just too fantastic and silly for real people in costumes.

Why don't they get Bruce Timm, Paul Dini, Dan Riba, and all the DCAU people involved in the live action franchise? They did a great job of tying together all the different DCAU shows with minimal continuity problems. Plus they have more experience dealing with these comic book characters than anyone else.

A decent idea, but how about taking liberties with the size of the Justice League. Having more than four or five is going to fuck shit right up, and its not like they have to explain the backstory for Superman or Batman, or even Green Lantern. There, thats at least a half hour of intro to be used elsewhere.

I want a Captain Marvel movie, myself. Maybe centered around Freddy Freeman?
