New Witcher 2 Patch Brings Free DLC

A new Witcher 2 [http://www.amazon.com/Witcher-2-Assassins-Kings-Pc/dp/B003VJNPPE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1311182075&sr=8-1] patch is out, bringing a slew of updates and improvements, and another piece of free DLC.

CD Projekt Red has put another big Witcher 2 patch out the door and while it's not normally my business to make noise every time a game is updated, The Witcher 2 gets special attention because this isn't just a patch, it's DLC, too! The new 1.3 update brings several improvements including tweaks to the Prologue difficulty level, support for a wider range of aspect ratios, HUD-free screenshots, better support for 3D Vision, SLI and Crossfire, and a pile of other changes and fixes.

Also in the mix is A Sackful of Fluff, a new quest that takes place in the second chapter of the game. Players must visit the eccentric Elthon in his hut near the quarry outside Vergen to begin the quest, which will "prove most rewarding to those who demonstrate patience."

Other fan-requested updates to the game include item storage at inns, a "junk" panel in the inventory that will aid in item classification, the ability to view cutscenes from the menu and the addition of a "Quickload" option. Fresh installs of The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings should automatically update to version 1.3, while manual links to update existing installs and a full list of changes can be found at thewitcher.com [http://www.thewitcher.com/patch1-3/].

Not this shit again. Please.

*topic* Normally support for a game like this is either nonexistent or comes with a price tag. One day, I might replay it to see what happens when I make different decisions (and to check out what the patches did to the game).

Nice, this might help push me into finishing. I kind of ran out of gas for some reason in the second part. I think those guys yelling "ODRIIIIN" over and over might have had something to do with that.

Anyhow, not that im not thankful that we get free DLC and all (unlike in other RPGs, EA and Bioware would have had you paying 5 euros for that quest), but when can we expect an expansion pack? I guess they are busy with the xbox port, which pisses me the fuck off because the game is way too short and needs an expansion pack to flesh it out a little badly.
Doubt it, most of the "free" DLC had been cut content,I'm not event being cynical about this. The story has closure therefore I don't expect anything else until #3.

Oh, that is helpful, as the first time I played I chose the "Whatever happened to the Dragon?" conversation option and died in approx 10 seconds. Many times.

lol i love many of these fixes. for some reason, after burning the corpses, the rotfiends came back. kinda made my whole contract pointless. glad they took them out. also this DLC sounds more liek broken quests that have been fixed. i remember that hut, and the body in it. didnt make much sense at the time.

if it pleases you, go with Iorveth in the first chapter and youll end up in Vergen. i liked Vergen better. has a tavern wich = awesome. this game is prolly the only RPG i EVER redid with different choices. i hate binary moral choices, because i am not evil. this one actually gives me choices.

Another Prologue difficulty tweak, I don't know if I should laugh or cry.

If you skip the introduction and hop right into the action (the fastest paced one I might add) you have forfeited every right to whine about the difficulty.

Gamers of this day, they are so funny.

AAA, world-class support from CD Projekt Red. All free stuff for such an amazing game where other developers in the same situation would choose to nickel and dime people instead.

Boob cards? It's not quite the Witcher without them.
Don't worry, thats in the up-comming misogyny patch. They are also adding a new dedicated "pimp hand" botton.
Well, at least it's not by Bioware, then we'd have cock cards as well.

That's a horrible idea, we don't need boob cards in a game with HBO-style sex scenes already included, that would be just gilding the lily; you can only include so many boobs before the impact of those boobs is lost completely, and boobs should never be mundane, no sirree.

No, what they should really do is make their April Fools' day joke game The Bard: Saviors of Queens [http://www.saviors-of-queens.com/index2.html] into a free DLC. Mandolin-based combat!

On topic: Yay, I've been waiting for this to come out prior to my next trip through the game, after I learned I'd somehow missed something due to not missing things in my usual fashion (very sneaky CD Projekt RED!) about midway through my 3rd playthrough and resolving to go back to the beginning and fix that oversight. Since the patch details were announced though and it was "looming" I figured I might as well wait till that hit so I could play in 4:3 aspect ratio and get rid of those black bars, and now the wait is over, whee!

I know what I'm doing tonight when I get home...

Whatever, just wash your hands.
this is how you do game support and why I bought the game without even caring about reviews

in unrelated news, I hope the escapist is getting a mint from these fucken coptcha ad things since Im rallying against anyone going publisher as long as these fucking things have ads in them

Was I the only one who thought 'Oh God, they made it harder to troll.' when they read the 'Tweaked the prologue difficulty'?

Yes but bioware would charge for the feature with the "Hairy cock'n'balls expansion set, just 8000 bioware points!". CD project don't do cocks, but if they did you can bet they would be free of charge.

I suppose you could have both in one... It's a trap!
I'm still rather confused about the misogyny of shagging lots of women. Geralt shows far more misandry by butchering lots of men, but then this is the year of the Fruitbat.
