New Witcher 3 Patch Adds Level-Scaling Enemies, UI Upgrades, and More

//cdn.themis-media.com/media/global/images/library/deriv/1325/1325521.jpgThe newest patch for The Witcher 3 adds UI updates, level-scaling enemies, and a new book to help you find Gwent cards.

The final expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is out today, alongside a new patch that adds an number of new features.

First up is level-scaling for the enemies you encounter throughout the game. While this change won't scale difficult enemies down to you, it will bring lower level enemies up to your level to make the game more challenging, but it won't affect the experience points or loot that you receive for defeating them. Level-scaling is an option you can turn on or off as you like during the game.

If you've been looking for the Gwent cards you need to complete your collection, the new patch has an answer for that as well. You can now lay your hands on a book titled "A Miraculous Guide to Gwent" that tells you how many cards are missing from your collection, and where to find them.

Also included are a slew of upgrades to the user interface, including better sorting in Geralt's inventory, easier purchasing of crafting items, and easier item comparing.

It's a massive patch, and these are just some of the highlights of what's included. There's plenty more, including a number of bugfixes and changes. You can read about all of them in the complete patch notes, found here [http://wpc.4d7d.edgecastcdn.net/004D7D/mkt/document/Changelog-1.20-ENG_l9fczl2s3h.pdf].

The moment I saw 'level scaling enemies' I leapt from from my chair and yelled NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

But then I sat down, read the article, making it an option is the perfect solution and all is well with the world.

Except now my dog's howling.

And massive is fucking right, I think when I went to download it on my shit-tier internet, the size was like 17 gig or something.
Ain't no way in hell I'm going to be able to download all that with my crappy countryside internet ;A;

Edit: Nevermind, it was just a quirk of my internet.

I don't think that's right. The patch should be around 2.7GB on console, 2.5 GB on Steam, and 4.5 GB on GOG, from what I have seen. Might try a refresh or something.

Only way I could see it being that big would be if the expansion was included, or it was all the patches downloading together or something.

Yeah, double checked, for some reason it appeared a lot larger then it was.
Then again, the internet here is so outdated, I'm half expecting to find a hamster wheel inside the modem.

I retract my statement ^^;

It's usually best to treat the hamster with love and respect. I find they run faster that way.

The first thing I do when I get home tonight is going to be opening the game and turning level scaling on just so I can turn it off and throw it into the garbage where it belongs.

Then I'll play the hell out of it, because I've been looking forward to this expansion and patch for weeks.

So I get the impression the addition of Upscaling enemies is because there is SO much to do in the game, that by the time you get around to doing the vast majority of side quests (or inversely, finally get around to doing the main quest) they become trivial... which is an unfortunate result of being too awesome.

This at least lets monster contracts feel more like the dangerous quests they should be.

However, I don't fancy the idea of Geralt, the Butcher of Blaviken, having a hard time with some shirtless street thugs in Novigrad, so I'm super glad it's a togglable option
