with a new system you would think that developers would take advantage of this and start fresh and learn from there mistakes and focus on quality over quantity and stop releasing crappy games , we can wait for the games just stop with the crap . an example of this is mercs 2 , ea was in such a hurry they failed to debug it and people are getting tired of this as for the systems the same thing , i would appropriate your thoughts on this

New systems just add more problems to development take the Cell processor for example much harder to utilise than the 360's CPU

lack of ideas maybe. or prehaps it is felt that great graphics = great gameplay, therefore you dont need a great story or great involvement to have a great game. the old style over substance debate

I guess my view on this is they did not set out to create a crappy game. But many factors can bring upon this result either having a set release date and then sticking to it no matter what the outcome(Looking at you Movie based Games). When it comes down to it I wonder how many bad games are released knowing they are bad games but they have to try and make back some of the investment so they release it and hope for the best instead of wasting that 2 years of development time by scrapping the whole project.

I don't think most folks can appreciate exactly how EFFING DIFFICULT it is to create a video game.

It's not an exact science... it requires practice, talent, money, creativity, hard work, determination, money, time, money, and a lot of trial and error. And money.

People are too hard on developers most of the time. It's not easy to do what they do.

Bam. There ya go.

Even if the game is "crappy", as long as several years were put into it (and they usually do), the company will get some money out of it, and they'll be noticed, leading to potentially better employees, possible hookups or sponsorships, or merging with other companies.

All good things.
